I took today off from work. There's a meeting and normally that would change my mind, but this time I didn't. There are ways to catch up if I miss anything.
The best part is that I didn't sleep in so that means that there's more time to do nothing. I'm taking a break. I might read, I might watch some movies, I might tidy up the room --there are loads of things to help pass the time.
I've been working too much. I've forfeited some of my leaves from last year and we all know that's a bad sign. That means that the scales of work and life had been tipped unfavorably. I'm not gonna let that happen this year. I'm going make proper use of my time and make sure that everyone gets what's due them --including me.
The sun was out when I woke up and it's a great feeling. There was no rush, no mad scramble to the street, and no sardine situation in the shuttle. I hit pause. Everyone should hit pause every now and then. The morning has been quiet. Peaceful. It's exactly what I need to gather a little perspective.
Things have been turbulent at work and it hasn't been kind to everyone. It has made me think about my place in it all. When you're there, it's easy to get swallowed up. You tend to focus on the wrong things. Perspective is in order.
Tomorrow, I will throw myself once again into the hustle and bustle of the metro. But I will be even a little recharged. Thank God for little things.
