Deadly force should only be taken if absolutely necessary, never the intended plan of defense. However, because of the urgency of this situation, it's understandable if something like that happens. Everyone is at risk here, and it can't be expected to not fight your best when fighting for your life. Just use extreme caution, so that there aren't any accidents.
It's preferred that you contact the police so we can get to the scene as soon as possible, but I understand that you don't always have that option.
