>facepalm<
I swear the story gets wilder each telling, it's almost as good as that night of wining and debauchery with Tanya Huff all those many years ago.
The upshot was a UPS crashed down off of a high shelf due to some local clumsiness by the staff of one of the locations I was servicing and crashed onto my hand. Specifically the metal sliced into my finger and cracked the bone. Many stitches later I was back at work. Evidently my boss now uses this as an example to all the other "lazy bums" we have at the office. "See, had his finger chopped off and went right back to work SAME DAY!" That my boss is a former air force mechanic means he reminds me a lot of a certain other merciless task-master and nco I had. And yeah he'd have insisted I just crazy-glue the thing back, AND mop up the blood as I got back to work. ;-)
Life remains an adventure of setting short and long term goals. We finally got all the last of my debts into "absolute zero" and that includes from old student loans to cars to credit to anything, part of the grande master plan of saving up for a house. As for the Overunit, one last "debt to zero" and then there's the little fact of the Student loans to pay back as she's Dean's list baby! Top Five percent in the University, so nice to know I married smart. lol
Athena is proving to be a juggernaut of a fearless personality, but she also believes in sharing and exploring. There are a lot of good traits in that wee Deity so we will continue to do what we can to encourage them. Of course I think getting her a backyard of her own will be a step in that right direction.
I end up right now with the Company I am with paying pretty close attention to the world that is going a bit nuts at the moment. Well that's a legacy of selfish people, and bad economics for you, and now the class system is back to almost literally open revolt. Britain should have seen it coming as they like the United States are one of the worst Have-Have Not splits. Time Magazine was noting that over 30 percent of the earnings go to just 5 percent of the people in those two countries. It really makes you wonder if we're not just seeing a modern version of Slavery all over again, this time Wage and Debt slavery....which come to think of it wasn't that what serfdom was? I know it's a huge generalization of things, but you have to pause and wonder.
Something is seriously broken. Canada hasn't gone that way...yet...but it makes me look south at our brother nation and wonder if they will ever get out of this one, or is it going to get worse for a while until they start having Leaders that start taking and acting out of sense.
I know, leaders acting with sense. I remember Jack Layton was one of the Councillors of Toronto I had always liked. A lot of common sense, and willing to admit when he was wrong. Didn't see very much of that at all from a politician...saying he had made a mistake and would do better next time for us. I was glad when he got into Federal Politics as he saw what was happening to the Municipalities across Canada with the Provinces and Federal Government "offloading burdens" to them and failing to put money back in. Toronto as it is now is a shinning example of that sadly. I think we lost a gutsy Canuck there, and will miss him. But I think like Jim Henson he knew he was facing his "last huzzah" and boy did he make it something. If Canadians could have voted for Prime Minister separately well then.
Our Deity has decided this is nap time and is tugging the shirt...so time to enjoy a well earned nap.
Be at Peace
