WTF?!? is a common response for many HP fans when they trip across Snape/Hagrid ('Snagrid') for the first time. You have plenty of company. LOL! Yet for those who are curious enough (or brave enough ;-) to read such stories, it's surprising how many of them become converts in believing that the pairing could WORK.
I'm glad that you've liked my Snagrid series. Thank you for the gracious praise.
And as to that weeping at the way JKR had Snape 'die'... Dry your tears. Remember, in canon, Snape's Headmaster portrait never appeared and his body was never found. Combine that with the fact that Snape was a potions master who had seen old Voldie use his pet snake in attack mode on more than one occasion and you have plenty of circumstancial evidence for him always carrying in his pocket a first aid kit that included blood-replenishing draughts and Nagini antivenom. Voila! Plenty of evidence based in canon that Snape didn't die, he just a clever Slytherin who took advantage of circumstances to fake his death, so that he could then take a nice hiatus from dealing with politics and teaching dunderheads...
Hmm. Yea, that's what I tell myself - Snape's a survivor, there's NO way he's gonna be taken out by something as ignominious as a snake bite. If he can survive being a spy for two wars, it'll take more than maddened idiotic Dark Lords to off him! But even if that's the case, I still can't see him as being happy in his new life. After witnessing atrocities, being shunned by all, and killing his mentor, I get the feeling that whatever life he lives in the future would be steeped in guilt, misery and misogyny.
Or maybe I'm just not crediting Snape with enough fortitude. Nyah, I need closure on this! Probably will never get it...
So yea, I've just introed a new friend to this website, and y'know what? Same reaction. A big "WHA-AT?" followed by "...wow. Cool!" And just outta curiosity, would you be starting any new Snagrid stories in the near future? Cos I'd love to see more.
