People will laugh at you if you fall asleep in class. Fortunately, I am not writing from the point of view of the sleeper. I am writing from the point of view of the laugher.
In my writing class this afternoon, there was a group presentation about sweatshops. (Fascinating, right?) Do you guys remember a couple of months ago when I wrote about Engineering Guy and Fudge Gal? Well, Engineering Guy fell asleep during the presentation. Now, I was as bored as everyone else in the room, but I did not fall asleep. In the middle of the presentation, this kid started snoring and snoring loud. The whole class burst in to hysterical laughter. Engineering Guy did not wake up. I was surprised as the next person when, at the end of the presentation, he had a coherent, although irrelevant, answer to one of the discussion questions the group had at the end of their presentation. That only resulted in more laughter.
The best part was when we were discussing our final papers and he said, "I'll start. I'm doing my presentation on mumble, mumble, mumble and whether we'll respect them or not." The "mumble, mumble, mumble" translated into something about police cars with advertising on them. It was so random, and everyone in the class was like, "What the hell are you talking about?" It was the most random topic I have ever heard of. He deserved to be laughed at for that, too.
And so I came back from class to find Caitlin watching "The Maury Show". What the hell? I haven't watched that since I was like 15.
