So... the never ending struggle to upkeep a classic wages on...
Had an ignition problem, so instead of just getting a distributor to replace the old points distributor I instead decided to purchase an HEI distributor, including shipping... $135
Got it installed in the middle of the night to find out the old wires don't fit the new HEI distributor, now must purchase high performance MSD wires. Luckily my cousin Brandy works at Baxter's in Tacoma, got a killer deal, originally the "cut to fit" Heli-core wire set would set me back $115 before tax, however with family discount, final price including tax... $60
Finding out you have a blown head gasket... Priceless
So instead of just replacing the gasket and calling it good, I figure I'll just put on High Performance Edelbrock heads... $990
But you just can't use the stock pushrods, so I need to get CompCams High Energy Pushrods... $30
And while I'm at it I might as well put on roller rockers because I'll have it all taken apart anyway, CompCams Magnum Rocker Arms... $143
And of course nearly the whole engine needs to be taken apart so I'll need all those gaskets as well, Mr. Gasket Head Set... $27
All for a grand total of... $1190
Better start saving... maybe I can have enough saved up by winter time when it's fun to work on cars!
Now I feel like writing everything that isn't stock on the car already...
