Oh my first cup of the Clarity tea, and kind of wondering why'd I ever try to experiment on what is clearly a perfect recipe.
I'm trying for a cross between Clarity (lemon balm and verbena tampered with rosehips and spearmint) and Insight (cardamom and cinnamon tampered with spearmint), the latter of which I don't consider perfected just yet. The base idea is lemon balm on the one hand and cardamom on the other, essentially occupying the same nieche as verbena, with a smaller amount hyssop smoothing the two effects together.
Even the best formula of that sort that I tried so far is just too - well, rough: the focus created is too inwards and the up/down dynamic is too steep. I think the core of that problem is that cardamom is that much more potent than verbena. However, neither lavender or chamomile will fit in there - their properties are more sleep-inducing than calming, and taste-wise they won't work, either. (Chamomile and hyssop together will be throat-burning.) So what I need is another soothing or grounding herb in my collection. Or... throw in something invigorating, like clovers, together with, say, chamomile, over a huge base of lemon balm with a touch of spearmint to tie it all together? Except if this doesn't work I may have a very interesting day.
