Five Worlds Dead

The Grey Emperor looms over existence, the specter of despotism and war. He has brought down the Seers of Khaa with schemes as convoluted as any they could ever contrive. They search for hollow knowledge and silent words, their wisdom turning fallow from disuse.

The Orcs of the Red Steppes have traded away their freedom to become the Grey One's cruel foot soldiers. The altar of prostration stands as a mark of where and when they lost their nerve.

The Valleys of Hunters are aflame with destruction from where The Horseman had lead his marauders through. The people they leave behind are destroyed in body or spirit, huddled in the charred remains of their longhouses.

The Floating Men of the Void-Dark Sea were seduced by a false prophet, and now they are locked in endless bloody feuds on their seaweed islands. Strike parties clash in their war canoes and corpses fill the sea.
And the Kingdoms the Spires languishes in a haze of bored contentment and apathy. All is well in their lavish villas and gilded streets. The smell of rotting bodies and burning fields will never touch them, as they have never offered the Grey One any resistance. His General have set up his headquarters in Emerald Square, but even this has earned little but muttered distaste and wrinkled noses.

Now the Emperor has his eyes on the sixth world, the last free place in existence. Will there be anyone left to stand against him and his corruption? Anyone to size this final chance?

I'm working on a fantasy setting (for Fate Accelerated). It's inspired by the album art for The Blood of Heroes' Waking Nightmare, as well as every evil fantasy overlord ever.
Basically, a crack team (Shades of my old fantasy Leverage 'hack') must come together and defeat the overlord's vile influence.

Character generation is pretty much as it is in FAE, except that each character must have an aspect associated with the place they come from, or its people. I'm strongly considering having 'super stunts' (giving +4, costing 2 refresh) as an option for the very capable characters (limited to one per player character though).

The idea is that the overlord is defined by his lieutenants. Each is an approach of sorts, I guess. They are The Harbinger, The Conduit, The Horseman, The General and The Void (as per that album art). I hope to make a sort of meta-level where the choice of lieutenant determines what sorts of conflicts will appear in the game.
