Furious 7

I haven't gone to see a movie on opening day since I don't even know how long. But I happened to be free today, and I adored all the previous movies. Also, there's Paul. <3 Something about the loss of Paul has always made me emotional and I'm not sure why, since aside from loving him in the F&F films I wouldn't say I was a fan of his in anything else.

I didn't want much from this film aside from watching them have fun, no one dying that wasn't already dead (fictional or otherwise. I'm STILL upset about Han), and a good goodbye for Paul, and I more than got all of that. Furious 7 was as OTT and ridiculous and fun as I hoped! And it was sad. It wasn't wrenching, though, and for that I am grateful. The ending was lovely and sad.

~ The motto for this film was "Cars don't Fly.... Except for Dominic Toretto Apparently." I guess having pretty much conquered driving on streets, it was time to drive through air. Sure! Why not.

~ Seriously, I think cars were more airborne than they were grounded in this film.

~ I'd seen the stunt where Brian runs up the bus then leaps and catches Letty's car before the bus topples over the side of the cliff in the first trailer, but it was damned impressive on the big screen.

~ I am still shocked that I like Hobbs as much as I do. He is RIDICULOUS. And I like him. I'm glad he stayed.

~ I love Letty, but I also love Elena. Awkward! But kind of hot still. I'd say threesome, but Dom and Letty have that "died and resurrected" kind of love thing going for them.

~ I was at first uncertain about Kurt Russell as Mr. Nobody, but again kinda loved him by the end. I also thought he would betray Dom and the others by not giving them God's Eye, but then he did. So, he can stay.

~ I pretty much hand waived the Ramsey hacking "God's Eye" thing. I didn't see why they needed it to find Deckard Shaw since he was so good at showing up about 10 minutes into wherever their next stop was. But it did create a reason for Ramsey to be in danger, and their need to protect her.

~ Speaking of Ramsey, one of my favorite stunts was with Brian and Roman drifting in a circle in two separate cars and her transferring from one car to the other.

~ I'm starting to suspect Dominic Toretto is actually an Immortal, the number of times he should have broken his neck in this film. He was even sword fighting! Kinda. Okay, not really, but he could have! Yeah, he's totally Immortal.

~ I was again worried about Mia, and I'm really glad these films did not go to the pregnant wife in jeopardy place. She was totally underused, and that kinda sucks, but honestly I'm just glad Mia is never a pawn in the game.

~ I need Luda to be in every movie ever! Please! Why isn't he in more things? He should be in all the things. I luff him.

~ All the other big movie franchises, all of them, could take a lesson from the F&F films on diversity. They don't get it all right, but they kind of mostly do.

~ The ending was sad, and bittersweet, and loving. And Brian gets to live and be happy and I guess that has to be enough. I was wiping a whole lotta tears. Still am. If there are more movies or no more movies, either way it's fine with me.
