Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me... No Spoilers!
Saw Pirates of the Caribbean last night. Have been smitten with Johnny Depp since age 13. :) Black eye-liner only improves him. Like, a lot. weeeee.
Fun movie. Huge gaping plot-holes aside, it was a blast from start to finish. Delightfully slashy in some areas. I'm like the one person in fandom not ga ga over Orlando Bloom, and I'm afraid this movie didn't convert me, but I thought he was fun to watch and so was Keira Knightly and I thought everyone worked well together. And the rest of the supporting cast -- the assorted pirates and stuff -- were great. Ugly, disgusting, despicable, and totally engrossing and occasionally really funny. *g* But the true treasure was Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. I am quickly coming to the conclusion that he can do no wrong. He totally stole the show for me. And when Barbossa and Jack Sparrow were on the screen together, I was completely and utterly riveted. You could tell everyone was having the best time making this movie. I didn't fall as much in love with it as I wanted to, but I think maybe I was too tired last night to really get lost in it. Or maybe it was just a step too much into camp. But I did have fun, and I got a big kick out of recognizing all the different parts of the ride.
And jacquez, there was even a monkey! *g*
On a related note, they showed the trailer for Haunted Mansion. I loved that ride as a child. It was just the right amount of scary for me. It doesn't look as promising a trailer as PotC did, but you never know. If they make a movie based on Space Mountain, I don't know if I'll laugh or cry.
