dreamwidth

Okay, thanks to melina123 I can be found over at dreamwidth with the same user name. I'm planning to fully ignore it for the foreseeable future because I'm spread pretty thin as it is and one more new thing is just one more new thing too many. Although I will probably do something with the layout or at least post a post so it doesn't say ERROR any longer ( Read more... )

I like the greater flexibility of the access settings, but I don't like the way they're made public on the user profile page. The glaring red NO signs on the settings pages are unpleasant, too.

Maybe it will improve in time.

yeah, I guess that's it. I do like how you can have who's friended you hidden on LJ.

I feel much the same about the subscribe/grant access thing, and I'm finding myself actually raising an eyebrow when someone grants me access to their journal but doesn't subscribe to mine, or whatever. It's a lovely and shiny service, but there are weird adjustments to make. Especially when you were never that unhappy with the old system as it was, although you can see how the new system is meant to be an improvement.

Exactly! That's exactly what I'm thinking. And I know, I saw that you can have the option to grant without subscribing and I to was like, okay... maybe? lol.

Did you know that if you post a link to your fic on your LJ and then check your website referral stats, you see exactly the filter you're on? I mean, so far, the only people clicking on my story links have had me on /xxxx.livejournal.com/storywriters or /xxx.livejournal.com/folksIlike, but someday I know I'll see somebody was reading the filter "/xxxx.livejournal.com/mockablelosers"

*g*

that's a little too involved for me. *g* I think I did know that, but I don't really care what goes on behind closed doors in areas I can't see. That's certainly not what's bothering me. Maybe I just don't like to advertise it. *g* On LJ, everyone can see who I have friended, and I'm fine with that. Starting to select from that those I subscribe too but don't grant access to is weird, to me.

I totally know this only because after posting about a story to a filter that had annoyed me, the writer obliquely posted a post about this very thing. *facepalm*

So I just stopped doing links. *g* Although I never posted locked very often.

OMG, really? I wonder if anyone will be upset when they see they're on my filter "known liberals."

I kind of like it, honestly, but then I have people I just want to read but don't know personally. I can see where it would bother you. Part of it is that they wanted to get away from the dream that comes with 'X defriended you.' I'm hoping it works that way, is all.

I'm hoping it works that way as well. I keep ying yanging over whether to grant access to everyone or to no one. lol.

And looking at what you replied to, I somehow typed dream for drama. Now that's a freudian typo... ;-> And yeah, I'm back and forth on that too. But I don't do many friends-locked posts, either, so I may not do access to much of anyone. I just don't know yet. I guess I'll put something in my profile when I do figure it out.
