First of all -- OMG THANK YOU!!! pun and Pieces of Alice for my fantabulous stories!! WHEEE.

And now, my stories. I wrote two, in two separate fandoms which I never in a million, gazillion years would have ever ever considered to write in.

First, the pinch hit:

Initially it was a hunch based on the fact that she couldn't write at all. I suspect she had no clue what she was registering for. Imagine an entire story written like that? I also suspect she was very young -- for a while we thought maybe 14 or so, but there's no way to know for sure. She left only her name, no LJ or anything else to check. I searched the web and found a myspace page for a girl with the same name that might have been her, but there was no way to know.

Once the stories were up, the moderators of yuletide had a script running where you could check to see if someone defaulted or defaulted and was banned -- you put in the name of the person (the one registered with) and it told you if they were banned, etc etc. She was banned. If you default but contact elyn and tell her you need to default, you're not banned. It's only when you just completely disappear.

Besides, I know she defaulted because she didn't write a story. Search by author; no story.

Also, each person who receives a story gets an email saying, hey, you got a story. It's sent to the email you registered with. So, she must have gotten a notice saying she's gotten a story, but she certainly never left any feedback. She literally disappeared.

*shrug* I was only slightly bitter, but it was not easy writing that story, and the work that went into it, struggling to meet the request of a person who you *know* is going completely disappear, who isn't going to even read the story, is annoying at best. I mean, there's no way to know anything at all about her. She could be a complete fake or something serious could have happened, but my money is on her being a flake. But then, also, it's a mercy she defaulted considering her writing skills, the person who would have gotten a story from her is better off.
