HanGeng tutorial.
This image looked too dark and dull for Hangeng's adventure in Thailand, so here we will make it look nice and summery by lighting it up and giving it summery colors, as well as replacing the sky in the bg!:c

Here we have our base. This looks more like a storm is about to start tbh.
Let's start by taking that icky darkness away. Duplicate your base 3 times. Set the first two to SCREEN 100% and the third to SCREEN 50%.
Much better-only now, our sky has disappeared D:
Here we will be putting in a sky into our image. Take this texture (credits to the maker which I don't remember) and paste it over your icon. Set it to darken, erasing the parts covering HanGeng's face.
This will get rid of the overly bright effect-it will darken our image while still keeping brighter colors and better lighting than our base. This also makes our sky a more natural blue and not cyan.
Make a new CURVES layer and give it the following settings:
point one: 0, 29
point two: 85, 39
point three: 217, 176
point four: 255, 241
This gives our image pink-ish tones, while lightening our image slightly. Make a new layer and fill it with a light pink, like #eca8a8. Set this layer to SOFT LIGHT 50%.
This brings back some of the whites so it won't look so opaque, as well as make his skin more natural.
Make a new SELECTIVE COLOR layer and give it these settings:
REDS: 100, 39, 16, -57
YELLOWS: -51, 29, 36, 0
WHITES: -59, -51, -42, -100
This once again lightens up our image and gives it the summery feeling to it. Make a new CURVES layer and give it these settings:
first point: 35, 38
second point:132, 152
third point: 255, 253
This is just an optional touch I decided to add ^^ here I took a big, soft brush, 100px+, and the color white and brushed the bottom-right side of the icon on a new layer, setting it to SCREEN 29%.
Make a new layer and stamp visible (CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+E), and sharpen this layer. Set the opacity to 50%. :D
