I'm involved in an online film community. I get to see a LOT of short films made by people like me. Alot of these filmmakers are going to school for this sort of thing. They know everything there is to know about lighting, camera movement, and stuff like that. A lot of their films look visually great. But the story is almost non-existant! Most of the time they don't even give any attention to the plot at all. It just feels like they are rushing to film before they have even found something to ground their film ON.
Henceforth I'm just glad I'm a writer first, and a filmmaker second.
