Married in Haste 4

Feb 14, 2014 19:57

Hyukjae rubbed his face while cold water coming from the shower poured over his head. He was irritated just as much as he's embarrassed and the worst of it all is that he can take Donghae's image off of his mind. Damn, as if dreaming of Donghae was not enough, he just had to be the first face he saw when he woke up. A frustrated groan escaped out of his lips.

Hyukjae was unsuccessful in discarding Donghae's image of his mind that choosing which clothes to wear became a big pressure.

I don't want to look shabby next to him.

He defended himself but he was deadpanned by his own brain. He had always been a good dresser, quite on the fashionable side, in fact. There's was no way he'd look unpresentable.

Fine. I want to look good but it's not for him. Never for him.

He settled for a black wife beater, dark skinny jeans and a pair of high tops.

He smiled, he looked much better than earlier, definitely.

He pulled the door open and saw Donghae leaning on the wall in front of his room. Hyukjae's heartbeat ran wild again but he managed to hold his calm this time.

Donghae's eyes surveyed him and he became conscious, whether he passed or not.

------

Donghae roamed his eyes on Hyukjae's body, taking his time to appreciate the beauty in front of him. He had seen tons and tons of many beautiful men and women and none of them appealed to him like Hyukjae did.

His eyes squinted at the sight of Hyukjae's perfect shoulders exposed. He already feels jealous knowing that this would not go unnoticed by other people later.

"Quit staring at me like you want to eat me" Hyukjae grunted in an annoyed voice.

Donghae smirked, that wasn't very far from his mind, and it was something that he would be very much eager to do.

"I thought the bathroom ate you up, you really took your time.."

"I did, and I didn't tell you that you have to wait for me so you don't have any right to complain." Hyukjae snorted then he turned to check his room's lock.

"Who said I was complaining? waiting for you was well worth it, you look incredibly nice.."

Hyukjae thought his heartbeat stopped --- why not? Donghae just gave him a compliment... and it didn't sound like he was mocking him.. it sounded like he really meant it.

"What?" He snapped at Donghae who just smiled at him.

"Not going to repeat anything. Let's go, Kyuhyun said Min's starving.."

They started walking to the elevator with a safe distance of about an arm's length but as soon as they reached the elevator, their arms were almost brushing against each other and Hyukjae could smell Donghae's cologne. The same nice smelling cologne he wore earlier.

They were alone in the elevator when they got inside and as much as he wanted to tell Donghae to move away from him, his tongue felt like it's been tied. Five floors down, Two women boarded and the sticky stares they threw at Donghae didn't escape his attention. Neither did the obvious flirtations like giggling, shaking their exposed cleavages and legs to get Donghae's eyes on them, he didn't miss any single one of them and it made his blood boil!

------

A smile was itching to come out of the corners of Donghae's lips. He recognize the stares that the girls were giving him and he could hardly care. What caught his attention more is the expression on Hyukjae's face. Oh, priceless. The other was visibly annoyed.

Hyukjae couldn't help but scoff at the overly flirtatious wink that the women threw at Donghae before exiting the elevator a couple of floors down, but what irritated him more was the stupid smile lacing on the other's lips..

'Once a player, always a player.. Some people will never change..' He noted inside his head.

The rational part of his brain was more than acccomodating to the idea, but an ugly feeling lingered in his chest.

----

On the next stop, a group of college looking boys got on the elevator.. And this time it was Donghae's turn to have a scowl on his face.

The damn pricks were obviously checking Hyukjae out. Eyeing him hungrily like he was some delectable dish. Possesiveness screamed inside his head and all he wanted was to wrap his arms around Hyukjae's waist so these college boys would know to whom Hyukjae belongs to.

Not that he has any rights to do that, no.. Not yet.. But he plans to, he wasted all the past years entertaining his pride tha's why Hyukjae still wasn't his until now. He's just lucky that Hyukjae hasn't hooked up with anybody.

He stole a glance at Hyukjae's expression from the mirrored wall of the elevator and felt quite appeased that Hyukjae seems oblivious with all the attention he's getting. Hyukjae caught him staring and the automatically frowned at him.

The boy who were with them at the elevator got off the ground floor like they did and one dared to approach Hyukjae.

"Hi"

"I don't talk to strangers" Hyukjae told the boy flatly even before the former could speak more. He then tugged at Donghae's arm to get them both moving away from the spot.

A pleased smile latched onto Donghae's lips as he and Hyukjae walked away from the group..

"Damn teens with agressive hormones.." Hyukjae mutteted under his breath.

"I didn't know you were afraid of them" Donghae commented.

"I'm not afraid, i just know trouble when i see one and avoid them as early as I could" Hyukjae answered without second thoughts.

"So you thought I was trouble.." It wasn't a question but a statement and Donghae felt a familiar sting awaken inside his chest. "you avoided me like I was a carrier of an incurable disease back then.."

Hyukjae's eyes fell on Donghae's face and stared at it for a while. His insides twisted unpleasantly, upon seeing the quick flash of pain and frustration on the latter's face.

He understands the frustration but not the pain... Did he really hurt much more than Donghae's pride like what Sungmin was telling him before?

The that he thought has been long buried began to resurface.

He considers it his most kept secret and it will forever be. No one has to know that he felt guilty for not giving Donghae a chance to explain, no one has to know that at some point, he regretted not giving Donghae a chance. No one has to know that he was not completely happy because he made sure everyone thought that he was proud of his decision, that he was right about Donghae from the very beginning.

"Well, you proved to be one, didn't you?" He answered in a seemingly nonchalant tone. But inside, he felt a squeeze on the chest.

Donghae let his eyes linger on Hyukjae's face. He couldn't read Hyukjae's emotions at the moment and until he's got a clue what the other really feels, it's pointless to discuss things.

Hyukjae on the other hand secretly hoped that the other would negate what he said, but seeing the other opted not to, it felt more like an admission to his accusation and it hurt.

They reached the restaurant without another exchange and the couple eyed them curiously as they silently took their respective seats.

"Did you two try to strangle each other on your way here?" Sungmin joked but in a serious tone.

"Let's just eat, i'm starving" Hyukjae said dismissively not wanting to prolong the discussion.

"We are as well, It took you forever to come. Eat fast, the judge will be waiting for us!" Sungmin chirped excitedly.

"The judge?"

"Yep! We're tying the knot tonight!" Kyuhyun grinned.

"Whoa. I thought we're going to wait for like, two more days?!"

" 't was the original plan, but while waiting for you we figured it wouldn't really make much difference if we do it today or tomorrow or the next day. The bottom line is we're going to get married anyways"

Donghae just shook his head at the sponteneity of the couple

"You sure this isn't about the honeymoon?" Donghae mused

"Partly, we said we're going to try something new on our first night.."

"Oh my god, Kyuhyun will you shut up?! My ears!"

"Your ears, are used to everything!" Sungmin giggled

"It's not! I wear earplugs at night whenever Kyuhyun sleeps over" Hyukjae replied, face as red as the ripest tomato.

"Okay, nuff of this.. Don't eat too much! We'll still celebrate later!" Sungmin said.

-------

Three hours and two and a half bottle of fine wine later, the four of them were barely sober.

The newly weds were on a kissing spree which would occasionally get a disgusted grunt from Hyukjae.

"Shtop kissing, puhlease.. like you've been kissing for 10 years now and haven't you exchanged too much saliva yet?" Hyukjae slurred

"Not 10! just 7.. and Ohhhhhhh, we've exchanged much more than that, Why Hyukkie-ah? Is my halfbrother-slash-bestfriend is jealloouuussss?" Sungmin giggled loudly before examining Hyukjae's face "Omo. You are! Why don't you kiss Donghae?"

"This guy?" Hyukjae scowled. "Nice lips and all but---" Hyukjae said but Kyuhyun butted in.

"No, No, Donghae should be the one kissing Hyukjae... He has liked him for what? An eternity already? Boo! You shouldn't have stopped wooing him!"

"I would n-hic-ever give in to him even if he did continue!" Hyukjae snorted and drank another glass of wine. "I don't do players"

"He's not a player and I am not saying this because I'm his friend.. He's really not. Donghae why don't you defend yourself?" Kyuhyun said exasperatedly.

And so Kyuhyun blabbered about the past.

---

Kyuhyun found Donghae at one of the smaller reading rooms in the campus.

"Why are you hiding?!" Kyuhyun approached his friend who looked like he was in a damned serious business.

"What hiding? I'm not hiding." Donghae answered without looking up. He highlighted a passage at the note he was reading.

"It seems like you are. You're in one of the most secluded areas of the school if not for your stalkers, I wouldn't have known you were here. What's with all these junk?" Kyuhyun asked referring to the pile of books scattered messily in front of Donghae. "You're not suddenly planning to graduate with honors are you?"

"No."

"Then why? You said as long as you pass your subjects it's fine.."

"I need to get A on all my exam"

"Did you ask something big from your parents again?"

Kyuhyun asked. The only time he had seen Donghae so fussed up about his studies was when they were in the second year of Junior high. Donghae wanted a very expensive professional camera because he really was interested in Photography but his dad said he would only give him if he could ace his grades. Donghae didn't like dares, bets and similar stuff so this might be really important.

Donghae shook his head before finally lifting his face. "Nope. It's Hyukjae"

Kyuhyun's mouth dropped literally. "Wow. If you're that serious, then.. is there anything that I can help you with?"

"Nah. I can do this. Trust me."

----

Hyukjae's brow shot up at the information.

"You really studied?" He asked Donghae.

"Do you think I can magically get A's?" Donghae answered half sarcastically.

"Well.. I heard differently.." Hyukjae mumbled under his breath. He was drunk but he still remember the details. He knew Donghae got A's after he dared him but he didn't bother knowing how he got it. He believed the rumors that were flying around the campus that time.

"What did you hear?" Donghae's head jerked and gave Hyukjae a hard pressing look.

Hyukjae stilled at the slight anger displayed in the other's eyes. Swallowing, he pouted himself another glass and drank it straight up.

"Ithoughtyoubeddedyourprofessor"

But just in time, the crowd cheered so loud over an important announcement.

"What?! I didn't hear you!"

"Nevermind!"

Hyukjae felt regret biting at him. If bedding the professor was not true, the other rumors were also probably not true.

Stupid.

Another glass of wine disappeared into his lips.

He stared at Donghae who already stopped drinking and seemed to be lost in thought. Maybe he was really wrong, but Donghae gave up on him so easily didn't he? He even said some hurtful things back to him too..

Feeling irritated at the sudden thoughts flooding his head, he stood up from his seat, He needs an outlet and the dance floor seems inviting.

"Yahhhh. Where are you going?" Sungmin asked him.

"Gonna dance for a bit, music's good!" He pushed forward until he got lost in the crowd.

After a dance, he felt hands on his waist and when he tilted his head he saw it was Donghae. "Let's talk at the bar.."

Hyukjae didn't resist when Donghae pulled him, they were lucky enough to find vacant seats at the bar.

"My memory's awful when I'm drunk" Donghae said after ordering cocktails for both of them.

"Mine too.."

"You owe me a date."

"What?"

"I saw your expression earlier... you really thought I cheated to get all those A's so I can date you. Am I right?"

He stared at Donghae. Since they both know that everything will be forgotten the next day, He chose to be honest. He can be mad at him again tomorrow.

"Yeah..."

"So what kind of cheating did you think I did?" Donghae's tone got replaced by curiosity.

"A lot and believe me they were all awful. If you were in my shoes, you wouldn't want to date yourself too."

"Like?"

"Like you bedded your professor in History?"

"You fucking believed that?"

"She was the one with huge boobs right? Half of the men at school wanted to fuck her, I didn't think you were any different."

"Okay, what else?"

"You paid a really needy geek to write your paper for you.."

"I can write my own paper." Donghae answered cynically.

Hyukjae squared his shoulders. Then he continued telling Donghae all the rumors he heard.

"Wow, and you believed all of those? That's how low you thought of me? I didn't even do anyone of them!" Donghae protested.

"Sorry, you just really seemed like the type" Hyukjae's vision was already doubling.

"I really liked you back then, do you know that?" Donghae told Hyukjae, and the latter ended up biting his lips.

"Do you really forget things when you're drunk?"

"Yes. i don't remember anything the day after.."

"Okay"

"Why?

"Because I don't want you to remember me telling you that I liked you too." Hyukjae said before throwing his hands over Donghae and pressing against a kiss on the latter's lips.
