His life as a Ghost is one of constant change, endless adaptation and mutability: that all of this rests on foundations which refuse to be shaken by any of his actions or revelations is what frightens him the most.

For all that Suki is a girl (she still likes flowers and giggles slip through when he plays up the romantic knight in shining armor bit) Sokka is nonetheless reminded only too well of the warrior she is whenever she marches off into battle.
The word is on the tip of his tongue and it is all Spock can do to refrain from using it, Uhura's comment regarding honey and vinegar suddenly ringing loud and clear through his mind - McCoy glares and grumbles and has no idea what he was almost called.

Chekov grins because it is expected of him, mischief the first thing all of his seventeen years mean to most, right up until his captain snaps out an order which leaves everyone else staring (how can he expect him to do that?) while Chekov's heart and soul triumph at the challenged posed to him.
Flagship can't help but smile at the sleek new paint job his evidently uncomfortable second is sporting, but he supposes it would be most unfair to tease her about her new criminal status (one head of crime family, coming right up) now - so of course, he does, all the while trying not to preen too much under his own new gleaming and somber colors.
(...I actually DO have a storyline for this... XD)
He remembers huddling in the darkness during the lightning storms that used to tear through the sky but Salvo lingers nearby and Fallout is outside in her alt mode, gleefully ripping wild patterns through the rain which sends drops of water everywhere but to the ground - all he can think is that he's never seen bad weather look so pretty until now.
Sokka/Suki - fluff
:D
