Quinn had a certain life planned out when she was in high school. She was going to go to Yale, study drama, come out top of her class and go onto a career she loved. She was an amazing student during her high school years, a cheerleader and just overall loved around the school. Life is funny though and sometimes, certain things in life happen and ( Read more... )

When she stepped closer to his desk he knew his cheeks flushed a deeper red. Her touch to his shoulder had him almost letting out a squeak in response. He had to bite hard on his bottom lip and pinch his leg as his entire self tingled and trembled from her touch. He knew his crush was a pretty big one. He had it bad for his teacher and it only got worse. Of course, with him biting on his lip he couldn't let out a verbal response so he simply nodded and sank back in his seat a little, as if trying to hide back. That way, hopefully, nobody would notice his flush.

His eyes widened a little when it came to taking pairs and he didn't move. He didn't dare move; these were the things he hated the most. Having to recite something back and forth with someone else. Someone that didn't know or understand his problems. He didn't mind if he could do it with a bro - usually Mike, because he knew and was patient with Sam - but trying not to trip over words when with a girl was near impossible. He knew some girls wanted to pair with him simply because of how he looked but the majority of the class knew Sam wasn't the smartest, so tended to avoid him in that case. He was fine with it and only hoped he would end up an odd man out or even paired with another dude. He'd even play Juliet if he had to to escape the embarrassment of falling over his words with a girl.

Quinn looked down at a few papers on her desk, jotting down a few notes here and there for things she wanted to still teach, but when she glanced up, she saw that Sam indeed was the odd man out and was left on his own. She sighed, brushing her hair back. "Sam, come up here and bring a chair. I'll be your partner," she said, turning her own chair to the side, crossing her legs at the knees as she waited for him to do as she instructed.

Of all the people for him to end up reading with, Quinn was the last he'd expected. The first he'd hoped but the last he thought. Because of course, having a thing for his teacher was utterly inappropriate. But he couldn't help it; she was beautiful and he was a slave to his feelings and hormones. Biting on his bottom lip when she spoke he gave a tiny, single nod and slowly moved to stand. He had to take slow and careful steps, taking a chair up with her. He swallowed thickly as he put the chair down and sat, his eyes dropping to look at where her legs crossed before he quickly forced his gaze towards the book on her desk. "I uh-- I'm okay not... reading. Really."

She watched as he came up with a chair, keeping her eyes on his face. She even noticed how he looked at her legs and it had her clearing her throat. "Sam, I understand you have a hard time reading, but just not doing it isn't going to help either. Do you want to do this in private? You can stop by class after school and that way, no one is around to hear and watch if you do make a mistake," she smiled at him softly, tilting her head. "You have no reason to be embarrassed or nervous though, okay?"

Sam was torn. He wanted to just do it so he didn't have to be embarrassed and make a fool of himself after school with her but part of him wanted that one on one time with her, if only so he could lose himself in her incredible eyes. A quiet clearing of his throat and he gave a tiny nod of his head, dropping his hands to his lap as he leaned forwards slightly, so people wouldn't hear him. It was better to make a fool of himself in private than out in front of the class. "I-- I'd like that, yeah. I don't like people knowing how I suck at this," he knew he was somewhere on the blurry line of cool. Cool enough to not be slushied every day but not cool enough to hang out with the guys on the football team. He was a freakin' synchronized swimmer in Glee club. Not as high on the ladder as he wanted to be, by far.

"Hey, you do not suck. Things are just a little more difficult for you, that doesn't mean anything like that though. You're a smart kid, believe me," she reached over to pat one of his hands, her smile growing a bit. "But that's fine. Come by right after school. I might not have you recite, but we can work on your reading skills, try and improve them a little. I could also get you a few tutors, that would probably help as well."

It didn't help his crush in the slightest when Quinn touched his hand and he simply smiled, dipping his head to try to hide the way he was once more blushing. Damnit. He'd been told he had no game and sure, he'd had girlfriends, but he'd never really felt like he had 'game'. He was only being reminded of that fact right here, right now.

"Thanks. I uh-- I appreciate that," far more than she would realize, he was sure.

She chuckled softly, still noticing the way he blushed. It was cute, but she wasn't going to comment on it. It wouldn't be right if she did. She was going to say something else, but then the bell rang and the kids started packing up. She pulled away from Sam, telling them all to read Act I for their homework and then glanced at Sam. "See you after school," she said with a smile.

Sam felt his heart leap when she spoke to him again with that beautiful smile on her face and he gave a nod of his head, slowly moving to stand as he did so. "Yeah, for sure. Thanks," a moment of hesitation to just look at her, and he moved back to his desk to put the chair back, and to pick up his bag so he could make his exit.

She watched him leave before she went back to the papers on her desk, going through the rest of her classes easily. It was a smooth day and one without complaints. Even if he wasn't the brightest student, per se, Sam was honestly one of her favorites. He was sweet and didn't seem like the jocks around school, even if he wasn't on the football team. She used to be a cheerleader, so she knew about social status in high school and understood why Sam would be embarrassed because he didn't want to be teased. It made her heart ache for him, one reason she had offered to help him after school. The last bell rang and Quinn watched as her students left. She stood from her desk and started to wipe off her dry erase boards while she waited for Sam.

Sam had literally counted down until he could leave his last class and get to go to see his teacher. He'd found out her name was Quinn but he wouldn't dare say it to her, knowing how disrespectful that would be. He wouldn't want to be disrespectful to her; he'd been brought up better, after all.

He made his way to her classroom and gave the door a light rap with a nervous smile on his face. "Hey... uh, I'm not too early? You don't need... a minute?" he knew she would have had a long day and he didn't want to impose too much. He figured he was doing so already just by taking up her time here. He thought it was just polite to make sure she truly was okay with doing this for him.

When she heard a voice, she looked over, a smile quickly curling her lips when she saw it was Sam. "No. No, come on in. Just close the door behind you," she ran her hands down her skirt after setting the eraser down. Moving over, she sat on the chair at her desk, pulling out a few papers that she had printed off earlier in the day for him. "I printed off some things that I thought would help you."

Sam watched her and, again for a moment his breath caught. But he couldn't help it; she was simply breathtaking. He had no doubt that she had countless men admiring her though. So why would a high school senior like him ever catch her eye in return? But part of him still hoped and wanted, waiting for a chance, any chance, to tell her how beautiful she was.

But catching himself he gave another small nod and did as she said. He entered the classroom and closed the door behind himself. Slipping his bag from his shoulder he dragged a chair to the table and sat down near her, leaning over to look towards the papers. "Thank you."

When he sat and leaned to look at the papers, she leaned in to point at a couple things she had highlighted. She did find Sam attractive, incredibly so, but she'd never act on it. "I know you have dyslexia and this will actually give you tips and little tricks on how to help yourself read better. Can you read it or did you want me to read it for you?" she lifted her eyes from the paper to look at him.

Sam turned his head and at first, utterly missed what she pointed at for his staring at her. But he switched his gaze to the paper, hoping he hadn't been caught out, and quietly cleared his throat. Giving the words a quick look he reached out to take the papers from her, his heart pounding all over again when he lightly touched her fingers with his fingertips in an attempt to get the papers. "I uh, I can read it. Just maybe not as fast as you."

"No one said you need to read as fast as me. Just take your time. While you read, I'm going to clean up," she smiled and playfully ruffled his hair before she stood up and walked around the room, bending over to pick up papers that students had dropped, along with a couple pencils. She tried to ignore previously the way she knew Sam was staring at her and how it made her feel. It was wrong of her to think of him in any other way than a student.
