Christmas was quickly approaching and Quinn had yet to get presents for anyone. Getting her mom's credit card, she ended up getting Finn to come or really, dragged him along. She needed to buy a present for him and wanted to see if anything caught his eye so she could secretly buy it. She also needed to get something for Sam, Puck, Mercedes, Tina ( Read more... )

Finn wasn't exactly thrilled at the prospect of Christmas shopping with Quinn, but then again, he was willing to be talked into spending time with her in just about any way he could since they had just gotten back together. It wasn't until they walked into the mall that he remembered what shopping with Quinn was like. It wasn't her fault, she was a girl. The trying things on, the looking in every store, the spending ten hours at the mall just to not buy anything...it drove him crazy but she called it fun ( ... )

"Windshield wipers? Uh.. I'll think of something to get her," she smiled a bit at him before she was walking in a music shop and she let go of his hand to look over some guitars. She didn't know much about guitars, so she went over to start talking to a person who worked there, saying she needed to buy two guitars, but she didn't know which ones were best. She was now actually thinking about getting Finn a drum set now that they were in the music store, but she waited to see if he even went near them.

It didn't take Finn long to assume who the guitars were for, and his mood dropped lower than it had been before. The very last thing he wanted to do with Quinn was Christmas shopping for the two other guys she had slept with. Yeah, it was taking him longer to get over it than he'd thought, and it was still a majorly touchy subject. Needless to say, a major pout came over his face as he wandered.

When she broke away from him, he tried to distract himself by looking at drumsticks, figuring out what he wanted to ask his mom for, before he wandered over to the kits. At that point, it sounded like a great idea to go home and play for a while, to try and work off some of the frustration about Sam and Puck. It sucked that two of the few people who could stand to be friends with Quinn happened to be the two she had slept with before him.

Quinn glanced over and saw him looking at the drumsticks, a small smile curving her lips. She even watched him go look at the drum sets and she then told the person who worked there that she wanted to order the drum set Finn mostly looked at, with a set of drumsticks. She went over to the counter and paid for two guitars, one black and one brown as well the drumset and sticks. Being told to come back in a week to pick them up. Taking her receipt and putting it in her purse, she then walked over to him, gently taking his hand again.

"All done in this store. Come on, lets go look at the jewelry store."

Finn didn't pull away the way he wanted to when she came to take his hand again, determined to be bitter about Puck and Sam until something came of it. The only thing that made the day look worse was hearing the word jewelry out of her mouth. Quinn was such a girl sometimes.

He let her hold onto his hand as they walked, and even let her guide him down the way to the jewelry store. He'd only been in there three times in his whole life; helping Burt pick a ring for his mom, picking up a necklace Rachel had said she'd wanted; and a long time ago when he thought he was supposed to be asking Quinn to marry him.

"Who do you need jewelry for?" He wouldn't have been surprised if it was for herself or for her mother, though he assumed it was for her own mother since they were apparently working through Quinn's Christmas shopping list. "What are we doing after this?"

"I'm looking for a present for your mom. I was thinking.. she'd probably like a mother's ring. It's a ring she wears with your birthstone in it," while in the jewelry store, Quinn lingered by some rings for a moment, ones she liked before moving down to ones that could be made into mother's rings. She had an eye for jewelry, so she was pretty sure she knew the size his mom wore. She knew Finn's birthday, so when Quinn found a ring, she told the lady behind the counter she wanted to place an order for that ring with the stone of Finn's birth month. As the lady wrote up the receipt, Quinn looked to Finn. "After the mall or after the jewelry store?"

Finn followed along, not really stopping to look at anything, but bit his lip when Quinn just gave his. "Shouldn't you get Kurt's too?" he asked, not really sure if it had to only be his because technically, she was only his mother. The whole concept of a stepbrother was still kind of knew, but he was warming up to Kurt, or at least adjusting to some of the things he would never understand, and it was getting better.

"After both," he answered, hoping that whatever they were doing after the mall would make staying at the mall worth it. Hanging out in the mall wasn't exactly how he envisioned spending his Saturday, though he had missed the envious way people looked at him when he walked anywhere with Quinn.

While he waited for an answer, he started to wander around, just looking at the different engagement rings, because that section of the store was both familiar and simple - he didn't have to figure out what any of the rings were supposed to be for, since he already knew.

"No because she didn't give birth to Kurt," which briefly had her thinking about Beth again and how some day Shelby would get a mother's ring with Beth's birthstone. Quinn wouldn't. She quickly pushed that thought out of her mind though.

"I don't know. I guess we could go to my house, watch a movie. Or go to Breadstix for dinner," she gave a little shrug before her attention went back to the woman behind the counter, Quinn paying for the ring in advance. She then wandered over to Finn and looked around him, seeing that he was looking at engagement rings. She let out a little chuckle. "I hope you not planning on asking me to marry you. I can already tell you the answer would be no."

Finn looked to her with wide eyes when she mentioned him asking her to marry him. "Wh- no...I didn't...just looking." Now all he hoped for the day was that he hadn't put the idea in her head, even though she said she would say no. "Just looking."

He stepped away from the counter almost instantly and headed for the door. "Your place? We could and I could make dinner?" So he couldn't actually cook, but he was still decent with the griddle and grilled cheese.

As soon as they had left the shop and were back out in the mall, he hesitated for a minutes before letting his arm slip around her waist as they walked. Once again, he was proud to be with the hottest girl in town.

".. Oh. Okay," she saw how wide his eyes got and was getting married to her that much of a scary thought? Which had her now feeling a little down. So, when they walked out and his arm slipped around her, she moved away from him.

"Actually, I think I just want to relax tonight. By myself. Maybe tomorrow we can have dinner."

As a teenage guy, the thought of getting married in general was terrifying. It wasn't something he missed when Quinn started to pull away from him. Months with Rachel had definitely helped him figure out faster when he had done something wrong, even if he still sucked at figuring out what it was.

"Hey, don't," he said, his arm going a little more snugly against her middle. "Please?"

She blew out a breath when his arm got tighter around her, her hair blowing back. "Fine," is all she said as she glanced around.

Finn's hand spread against her hip as he held onto her, his head tipping down to press gently against hers. "I can't do better if you don't tell me what I did wrong," he said softly.

She had his full attention, something he hadn't been able to give very often just a couple of years ago. "My cooking isn't that bad, I promise."

She sighed quietly. "It has nothing to do about your cooking, Finn. Just.. the way you looked at me when I was talking about you asking me to marry you. Like it was the most appalling thing you've ever heard. Kind of hurt."

Finn pressed a kiss to her forehead and shook his head softly. "You wanna get married, Quinn?" He asked mostly as a joke, but also to prove that he didn't mind the idea of proposing to her, though it was insane. "You wore Sam's ring, maybe someday it will be mine."

She just really wasn't in the mood. She had went from happy and smiling to just down and depressed now. She had a feeling he was just saying what she wanted to hear that that only made it worse. "Yeah, maybe."
