About once a year (sometimes once every two or three years) I write something that I think is beautiful. That I'm proud to say, "Yeah, I did that." I'm pretty sure that this story is the one I've been waiting fourteen months for.

I am a gibbering mess right now. I can't count the number of times you had my hands flying to my mouth because I wanted to make a sound, but can't because my family is in another room. I am going to have to read this again, possibly a third time to appreciate it fully, but I did want to drop a line and tell you that not only do you have some of the most beautiful and complex and well-imagined characters I have ever seen, but that everything (and I mean everything) about this fic is pitch-perfect. I couldn't begin to pick out the parts that I love the most, between Arthur's mail addressed to James Dean, Eames' threadbare trousers, the fact that this spans before and during and after the Fischer job, the fact that there's a chase, the fact that Arthur is an absolutely, adorably, beautifully dense idiot, until he's not. You have done spectacularly. I am in love.

Oh, WOW.

This is amazing and wonderful and what a trip it is for Arthur! I really felt how he was finally wrapping his head around the idea of Eames loving him...

Favorite lines:

"Do not know: do."

Arthur laughs despite himself. "Okay, Yoda."

Saito's smile is all white teeth. "You mock, but he is very smart for a green puppet."

Yes, of course Saito would deploy this kind of comment!

Arthur learns about Eames' love of Star Trek, Doctor Who, the color green and his first cousins: Diana, Peter, Emma, Neal and Susannah, who all drop by to vet him.

Eames and Doctor Who! My god it's almost fanon! How I love the idea....

Oh, boy, I love the thought of Tom Hardy in Zegna and it being a shot of pure HNNGGG for dear ol' Arthur.....

The ending is just so gorgeous.

This fic is so so wonderful. I not only read a fantastic Arthur/Eames story where everyone is so perfectly characterised and the exchanges between them, their backstory, their current stories, their fights, their tension, their sex and everything being so believable, I also feel like I just have a very hard hitting lesson on relationships. I really love the bite of their first fight, when Arthur had turned down the invitation - it felt like a slap, and I wanted to punch Arthur so much for turning him down. I really loved how you showed their passion as well as their clashes so well, and the photo. The details you added on how it was real and not digital, and there were words on the back, and Arthur cared only for the photo and not the frame, and I teared up, and I basically read the rest with a choke in my throat until I reached the very end. Love love love. You are a genius writer. Genius.

And Gregory Peck marathons, and Bonnie and Clyde! And his alias is James Dean. Awesome.
