I've listened to it eleven times today. Already.

First of all, thank you, to every last one of you for aiding me in my time of complete and utter meltdown, you're all wonderful and I don't tell you that nearly enough, but you are, so thank you. If anyone else needs happy things, I cannot recommend this post highly enough, there are links and photos and songs, and shit, it's a bonanza of happy. Who the fuck doesn't need that?

Second, you all gave me some fucking stellar shit to play with And That's How Babies are Made is currently traveling all over the globe via e-mail as is The End. Every writer will adore Stewie and Brian's conversation about 'that novel' and as everybody heard me shriek yesterday, Baby Daddy, err, Adrian Pasdar was on some horrible American chat show looking smoking hot (*sigh*) and talking about Shakespeare and his kids. *oh, Adrian*

Third, there is nothing like the power of music to heal. I mean nothing. Because for all of your amazingness there was still this -- well, wound (for lack of a better word) -- I couldn't ignore it and then along came the Kaiser Chiefs' new blinding single: Ruby and stuck a huge plaster over everything. Now some of you may have heard me talk about the Kaiser Chiefs' before -- they rock, they roll, they are pure British rock pop punk (or baby punk as I affectionately refer to them on occasion). For most of 2005 people tried to get me to listen to them, but I kept confusing them with the Arctic Monkeys and screaming 'You shan't take me alive!' But early last spring I was converted by a 15 sec blurb on Virgin radio and it was all over. I was in love. I talked about it a lot. My friend S will testify to this. Mostly she hears 'OMG I LOVE THE KAISERS. I LOVE EVERY DAY I LOVE YOU LESS AND LESS! RICKY WILSON 4EVA!!!' Yeah, that's, uh, pretty verbatim when you're drinking at 10am.

I can't really put into words why Ruby (video can be seen here) seemed to do things I'd been trying for weeks to sort out, only that it gives me hope in ways I haven't felt it in a while, that it makes me feel better -- about life, about music, about the world, about people in general.

The new album Yours Truly, Angry Mob will be out in the UK on the 26th of this month (my copy is already pre-ordered) and out in the States on the 1st of March -- if you only buy one album all year, this might be the one to get.

ETA: KAISER CHIEF'S BONUS (3 LIVE TRACKS FROM THE NEW ALBUM)

music, music blathering
