[Despite being new to the dream world, Jensen looks the least bit confused about what was going on. Instead, he was looking rather fascinated as the continues tinkering with the Dreamberry in his hands. It looks like he is talking in the video is on but no sound could be heard from the device. Jensen is seen fiddling with it a moment longer before ( Read more... )

[Oh hey, looks like a fellow techy has dragged him out of his funk for the time being. Enough to reply, at least \o/]

Haha, isn't it? Wait until you look into the actual network. Not that I've gotten very far, but it's like nothing I've ever seen before!

[Right, he better tell this guy what's going on before he goes off on a OMG CODE rant.]

I guess you're new, huh? These are Dreamberries - you're right, they're really similar except they can also record and broadcast dreams. This is Somarium - a dream world or something like that. It's kind of strange because there's probably one of you here and another one of you back home because apparently it's like you've never left home when you come here...

[Any questions so far?]

[Nice! Another person who appreciates this kind of precision work!]

I took a look at it before checking out what else this baby could do. I've seen something that reminds me of it, but it was really usually kept under wraps to most people. Couldn't even get near that thing without leaping through hoops.

[He actually lets out a laugh after hearing the name.]

Dreamberry? Seriously? Okay, A+ for craftsmanship but a huge whopping F for originality. But whoa, back up for just a second. I knew this thing could do other things but record dreams? How that even possible?

And you're telling me that this really is another world?

Hmm, maybe you'll be able to get further in then I could, then!

Hey, I'm not the one who named the things! I'm not sure, actually... something about Dream Energy and all that but that's not really my field of expertise... I don't think anyone who was brought here knows, and if anyone does know, they're not exactly telling us!

That's the only explanation, at least.

I'll probably give it another look if I get the chance.

Whoa, can't say I've ever dealt with whatever this thing is "Dream Energy" kind of thing.

[There's a pause, finally pulling the breaks on his nerdgasm with the Dreamberry. There were much more pressing matters to attend to for now.]

This world then, Somarium, is there some kind of way out? [To think he was just getting used to being off the job again and now he finds himself in a completely different mess.]

Haha, neither can I, until I got here, that is! That's what makes the network so hard to deal with, I think... the algorithims and logic are totally different.

[For a moment, his face falls.]

Way out, huh...? Not really... But that doesn't stop people from disappearing - leaving - every now and then.

[There's a moment of silence on his end, as his thoughts get momentarily tossed into confusion again.]

[He pulls himself together after a moment, though, a smile making its way back onto his face.]

Well, Somarium's not a very predictable place, but there isn't really a reliable way to get back to your own world. It's not all bad here, though! It seems like things tend to happen around the new and full moons, but it could be worse. No flesh eating monsters or anything, at least!

Don't sweat it. It'll be like learning another language, and that kind of thing is always fun.

[He begins rubbing his chin as he tries to digest everything he had just heard.] So people do get to leave, huh? Randomly at least. Man, all of this is a lot to take in. But no flesh eating monsters? That's at least something to be thankful for.

Haha, you get used to the quirks of this place pretty quickly after you've lived here for a while. [AND THEN THEY APPEAR-- or something. I mean.]

Oh right, I'm Atsuro Kihara! These things also come with a contact list of everyone who's been brought here, although you've probably found that already haha.

[...So now that that's out of the way...]

Are you a programmer too?

[He lets out a chuckle.] How long's a while then?

Name's Jake Jensen. [He fiddles with the Dreamberry one more time, looking through the list again.] Yeah, I took a look through it a while ago. No familiar names there.

Yeah. I do a bit of it on the side. Can't say I've exactly had the time to do some serious programming in a while now.
