So, the original, and by original I mean THE original versions of the the Star Wars Trilogy are comming to DVD. However, they have to be purchased WITH the newer versions for a whoping 90 bucks. Not the new trilogy mind you, I'm talking of the blasphemous "updated" versions of the orginal 3 movies. Hmpf.
The thing that makes me laugh the most about this is the continued and persistent hubris of George Lucas. The man must think that most of Star Wars geekdom is a band of slithering morons fighting eachother with carboard lightsabers and masterbating to Carrie Fisher (in the metal "bikini of doom" outfit, naturally). Of course, George Lucas would be right in assuming this; most of his fan base are 50 cents short of bus fare, but there are those of us who do talk and type in complete sentences and know when we are being cock-smacked with impunity. So what is my point? The Star Wars DVD's are rips of the old Laser Disc versions from the late 80's, not remastered from the original film because as George so bluntly states.....
I TAPED OVER THEM BY MISTAKE.
*double take*
You did what? No you didn't. You did not do that. How? I'm confused. George Lucas taped over my childhood? You.....fuck.
Of course, he didn't do any such thing. He is a liar. Liar, Liar, soul's on fire.
wow.
