No good advice this time. Just a 'catching-up'.
We've spent a lot of time visiting with dear friends and family this last little while. Doug and I went to OK Falls on the long weekend with Marshall and Marianne to visit our friends Bob and Sheila Daly - a great road trip complete with vegetable stands (somewhat early in the season); snake hunting on the Kettle Valley Railway trail and a visit with Pat and Wayne Holland in Naramata. We returned tired, but satisfied on the Monday afternoon.
Tuesday night dinner was at Mum and Dad's because Mum just isn't up to stairs yet - Marianne cooked (it was her turn - there is an order to all this) and I wonder if Marsh has got the chicken sauce out of the back seat yet? On Wednesday, a dear friend from the far distant past, Jim Rose, was visiting Mum and Dad so I joined them (partly to cook the dinner and partly to have a visit - I've know Jim as long as I can remember). Thursday was for regrouping and recovery.
On Friday, I left Doug to an evening at the driving range with Marshall and trotted off to Vancouver for Pele's Great Wedding Dress Hunt. I don't think the room service man from the Four Seasons will ever recover from the sight of Pen, Brig, Me, Pele, Emily and Megan with facial masks of various colours and consistencies and a wild variety of nightwear. He was very gracious and even consented to take our picture for posterity. Saturday was a whirlwind of shopping (think seven women traveling in a pack down Robson Street stalking the elusive perfect shoe.) The expedition was largely successful - the necessary garments purchased and just a shoe or two yet to find. Thanks for including me guys - it was great, but I lost the game.
With relatively pleasant weather yesterday, I was able to get a little yard work done (Doug had mowed the back lawn on Saturday) - some weeding and tidying and a little housework - vacuuming up the seriously crunchy things that had taken over the dining room floor and chasing some kitty fur dragons back into their lairs.
We're into the final push at work - all the gathering of loose ends to tie up the school year in a nice neat bow (like it ever actually works that way) at the end of June. Angela and I are supposed to sit down tomorrow and go through the things that need to be finished up so that we are both working on the same list. I have a couple of grant proposals to get finished up and the school plan needs a couple of minor tweaks yet, but it should all be done in time as usual.
