Procrastinate? Me? Never!

After "But I digress" our family's motto probably has something to do with doing it later. I tackle this habit by doing things immediately or never - there seems to be little middle ground when it comes to procrastinating for me. So I'm often to be found doing things now that aren't due for months ('cause otherwise they won't get done) or busily doing things that don't need to be done in order to avoid something I don't feel like doing at all.

The Heathens Newsletter generally falls into the category of things I'll do later. It is problematical as submissions dribble in over months, and 'there's no point trying to put it together until it's all here, is there?' Now that we seem to have dwindled to one issue per year the challenge to get the damned thing done is even greater. However, this time I had the perfect excuse - I was still waiting for Chris's submission to get here. I even called him to find out if he had sent it (yup - went out just before Christmas - you haven't got it yet?). The envelope finally arrived last week. With a lovely long article that had yet to be typed before I could start the newsletter itself. (We won't mention the three or four other articles I have had sitting on the side of my desk for months while I waited for this one last item to arrive 'so I could start'.) If nothing else, my typing speed improves when this happens - a week of typing manuscript every evening will do that for you. But the blindness brought on by trying to follow the route names and levels of difficulty is a drawback. Good thing Chris has such tidy printing or I would probably down keyboard and give up. The short version of this is that the damned thing is done for another season/year/whatever the timeframe might be. I just have to drag my sorry self to the printers and get it copied and sent off.

We've had a lovely week with Jesse and Peta home (I have a very interesting assortment of leftovers in the fridge so Doug and I will have lots to choose from for dinner the next few nights.) It was great to spend some solid time with them both and we look forward to having them home in June (most likely) and through the fall while Jesse does his practicum.
