Today was flea market in Niles.  This led, as it always does, to sunburns, a lot of food, and the occasional exchange of goods and services for either money or other goods and services.   Today, the goods-and-services exchange led to a table traded for a mandolin, to wit, this:

I know nothing of what makes a stringed musical instrument a good one, but I do think this one is very, very pretty and I applaud your aesthetic taste. Good trade!

Thanks....the aesthetics definitely had something to do with it. There's an "oooh, shiny, pretty!" factor in play here in addition to sound.

It is very pretty, and the surfaces are finished in a way that is very pleasing to the hand. The word, I think (Firefly/b.org lexicon) is 'oooh, shiny'.
