We are fighting against an enemy who mutilates captured soldiers and leaves them next to IEDs. What kind of belief system do you have to have to be able to sleep at night knowing that you haven't shown a shred of dignity towards another human being, regardless of their religion.
Those extremists in Iraq are fighting the US the only way they can; through the media. All they have to do is show how brutal and inhuman they are and Americans on the homefront will be fed images of an inconquerable enemy that stops at nothing to piece by piece destroy our country's will to fight.
These kind of actions shouldn't make America want to pull out; it should make every person's blood boil. We should want to pound these people into submission. They should lose all taste and want of battle with us. But we aren't going to stoop to that level of inhumanity. We at least honor those prisoners we have taken with dignity worthy of a human being. These same prisoners are the fundamentalists whose sole aim in life is to see all Western life destroyed. Everything.
All we hold dear and stand for is being targeted by a highly motivated, determined, and sizeable enemy. And yet, most of the people in America and the West want nothing to do with this 'jihad' against our way of life. As if the incidents of the '93 bombing of the WTC, and 9/11, and the bombing of the USS Cole, and the bombing of a Marine barracks in Africa have no credit in the fact that these extremists want us do die.
I don't understand. This will only be over when one side or the other is done. Not when they get their wrists slapped. Not when they have sanctions against them. It will only end when either when the terrorists lose all will to cause terror against us, or when the United States and the West falls to Muslim fundamentalist control.
America needs a wake-up call.
