Now that Brother Adam is getting married, we officially have to share him with his fiance's family. Not that I mind so much. I mean, I miss him sometimes, but then he comes to visit for a few days and annoys me with his Adamness for half the time he's here and I'm like, "Go back to Connecticut so I can miss you again, barfbrain!"
Ah, siblings.
But anyway, he won't be here for Thanksgiving this year because he's with his future in-laws in The Land of Milk of Magnesia (a.k.a. Florida). Surely, if she wasn't on the Weight Watchers so she can look spiffy for the wedding in March and had to weigh in on Friday, Momma D would be eating her feelings about his absence tomorrow.
She's totes gonna smack me for that last line.
Anyhoo! In light of his not being around, I won't be able to make it over to see Gramma F like we usually would on Thursday night, so Poppa G and I went over there for lunch today instead and I brought her a delicious homemade pumpkin bread of which I had a piece even though it had freakin' walnuts in it. It's not just that I don't like walnuts. I just don't like nuts in my soft baked goods! It ruins the texture. I like peanuts (which is neither a pea nor a nut, but a legume!), almonds, cashews, macadamias, hazelnuts, Brazil nuts (though I do not care for pecans), but don't fuckin' add any of those to my pumpkin bread! Nuts in cookies are okay though...different texture, y'see. Momma D's gonna smack me for that too, but WHATEVS!
It was today that I realized that any and every conversation I have with Poppa G and Gramma F ends in some sort of discussion about illegal immigrants and how they're the ruination of this entire country. Now, I have a lot of things to say about that, but I'm not going to argue with my grandmother because she's old, set in her ways, and I don't get to see her that much, so I just try to swiftly change the topic. My father, on the other hand...yeah, I'll give him and earful of reasons why he's full of crap. It won't change his mind either, but I just enjoy sticking it to him with my hippie liberalness.
On a lighter note, MUPPETS!!
