We're gonna mop this town, mop it inside-out!

Once again, I have learned something tonight (once again, it's still Saturday on the West coast!): in the event that I am standing in a puddle of hazardous silver-bearing waste chemicals, wearing a large, purple apron, holding a large roll of paper towels with a thick pair of rubber gloves on my hands, and a look of utter horror upon my face, people will still not be deterred from asking me if I can check out their purchases. Also, when I tell them my very good reason for not being able to check them out, they will still get miffed over my refusal.

Seriously, folks, you don't want me touching your Cheerios in the condition I was in tonight. The chemical waste overflow alarm got unplugged and when that happens, well, the waste chemicals overflow...into the office...and when you open the cabinet and try to pull out the excessively heavy barrel, it then sloshes all over the lab. Fortunately, El Douchebag is still on vacation and wasn't around to discover the situation. Last time this happened (which was probably a little over a year ago, it's that infrequent of an event) he bitched at me the whole night even though it wasn't my fault that it overflowed in the first place (whomever puts the new barrel under the counter is supposed to make sure that the alarm is still plugged into the surge protector) and it also wasn't my fault that everybody spent three days traipsing through the puddle at the bottom of the office stairs, as it got bigger and bigger, before anyone decided to look for the source and how about you stick your carpet squares up your [redacted]!

Oo, that man makes me so cross! Anyway.

I don't know why none of us thought of this sooner, but it occurred to me to tape the AC adapter plug to the surge protector so that it wouldn't detach itself. I felt so clever. Then I had to wash all the way up to my elbows before I could even think of touching anyone or anything. Phfew...such a trying afternoon.

cvs, work, stuff i hate, me, ranting
