While I couldn't say if 2016 was a great or a bad year for me, I guess it would be a so-so year.
For the past few years, I can conclude that I have changed a lot in terms of my confidence. From an "I just to want to play games" person, I have transitioned to "I want to show people how I play and enjoy games" type of person. It took about 2 years, and I'm still in the process up to now. I even bought a microphone and might start speaking while playing games.
The only thing that I don't want to do yet (and well yeah, I have a choice) is show my face. XD
Anyway, got sidetracked there.
Let's see now..
2016 Highlights
- Bought a PS4. It's surprising that I don't have a PS1 and a PS2, but have both PS3 and a PS4. My mom (rest in peace) bought a PS1 and PS2 for our shop years ago though.
- Got a new 88-key MIDI controller. It had a protuded "G2" key, so I've had it fixed by a keyboard technician.
- Composed 5 original tracks.
- Got a MIDI foot controller for the first time! Now to use this to change patches without using my hands.
- Got a PS TV to use for gameplay videos.
- First time to take daughter out for swimming. She has no reaction, but at least she's not afraid as well. Here's a collage made by my wife:
- My daughter's first birthday, and baptism at the same time!
- Bought an Ultra-HD Monitor, or better known as a 4K Monitor, for the very first time. I really have no plans to buy one, but I need a bigger space for work, and found myself not comfortable with a dual-monitor setup.
- Third anniversary with my wife last October 6.
- Because of the upcoming ESGS, and with the abundance of filipino game developers in the said convention, I asked my wife two favors - to design a calling card and a website for my business pitch. All was done the day before the ESGS, and I have successfully given a few business cards to some game devs. I am also happy that my wife has finished the website, with a real business feel.
In conclusion, this year has its share of ups and downs, but I don't remember anything as grim as last year.
Here's to a better year this 2017. Happy New Year!
