Last night was a night of doing nothing. I puttered, I read, I made pasta with sauce out of a jar, which I don't think I've done since New York. I also watched Supernatural, or at least part of it. There were nerds, very Jonathan-Warren-Andrew nerds, and if they weren't enough like the Troika (but the, er, Dupla) to begin with, one of them said to the other, "Remember, man. W. W. B. D. What would Buffy do?"
I didn't exactly get the show, coming in late and all. So there are these two hunky pieces of beefcake and they're kind of like Buffy and Co. but in Kansas? Do they get in trouble with all that Kryptonite? Sorry, it's just the one guy looks like he could be Tom Welling's slightly rougher-around the edges brother. Like Welling crossed with Conrad Keely (mixing my TV with my indie rock). And they ... play pranks on each other? Banter? Have interesting undertones? Kill phantom ninja cowboys?
I don't know if I get it, but it did kind of make me miss the WB. (It's not one of our three channels. OK, four.)
It's been weeks, but we now return to our regularly scheduled Friday Memeage.
reading
A Certain Slant of Light, Laura Whitcomb. I think I like it. I'm not entirely certain yet. I'm very proud of myself for finally finishing Crescent. I really want to get back to The Book Thief. And to start on Never Let Me Go. Soon. And to read a little of The Art of Eating and a little film criticism every night before bed. Oh, the wishful thinking.
wearing
Favorite jeans, Australia t-shirt with kangaroos on it, the best prize of last year's clothes swap.
planning
Trivia tonight. For serious, we're going. Tomorrow I will watch basketball. I had really, really, really wanted to make the Black Pearl Layer Cake to leave for those who house we've been so happily sitting, but it's so complicated and I'm not sure they have cake pans and I'm pretty sure I don't have time. So I will have to find something else to leave in its place. Hrm.
writing
I should be writing up notes about last Sunday's dinner. SUNDAY, I tell you. Where is my brain? I have a book review, a movie review and a restaurant story/owner profile to work on. And everything else, too. One thing at a time and it will all get done eventually. Or so I tell myself.
