Addiction

Well, all tonight accomplished was to further my current Dr. Mario addiction, and to make matters worse, I wasn't even playing well. I never should've let myself get talked into playing old nintendo games. All kinds of fun, but they make me so damn unproductive. Hopefully over spring break, my pattern of video game abuse will be disrupted. I don't even get addicted to the new games, it's the old/simple puzzle games that get me. Specifically, Dr. Mario and Minesweeper. I know, I know, pathetic.

Lunch today was an interesting discussion of dead bodies, decay, the stench involved, and various other things that you wouldn't think would come up during a meal. It was an interesting conversation, but I didn't have a whole lot to contribute. Pretty much let the two biologists do the talking, and just add in comments where I could. Somehow, that kind of topic doesn't seem nearly as nerdy as talking about engineering during a meal, even though they're comparably technical fields. Maybe it's just bias because I spent so many meals talking about engineering and so few talking about dead people?

At any rate, spring break starts the end of this week and I'm excited to actually have a little bit of time to unwind, even if i do have stuff to get done. Time to work on the character & fitness application to the Illinois Bar, because I'm poor and need to file before the rates go up. And, speaking of being poor, I need to fill out my FAFSA form too. God knows I can't go to law school without a little subsidizing.

Anyway, in news less related to me, a friend of a friend of a friend got arrested over the weekend in Champaign. Of course, being a law student, they come to me for legal advice. Some serious charges though (felonies are bad news), so the only thing I would dare tell them is to find an honest-to-god, paid-for-his-services lawyer that knew criminal law better than my most of one semester's worth of class. The whole thing seems like a ploy to scare the bejeezus out of this girl, but you never know. Hopefully everything will work out in the end.

Tomorrow I have a one-time class that I can't imagine being all that useful: computer training for lexis/westlaw research software. Hopefully I'm wrong, but I can't imagine it being much more than telling us where to type in keywords, case names, etc. Like I said, hopefully it'll be a little more informative than that. The bonus to that class is: 1) no legal writing class, and 2) I don't have to do all my research at the library for our last paper.

Lastly, sounds like one of my friends is going to lose a kitten over night. Now, I'm definitely not a "cat person" per se, but it's still sad to see one of them go, especially when I know they're so attached to her.
