There are a lot of ways to not get to the moon.

While we were discussing our oral argument assignment for legal writing, Jess mentioned that there are a lot of ways to make something musical. That reminded me of the quote from my artificial intelligence professor. The quote seems sufficiently obvious, so I thought it might deserve a little explanation. In a very small setting, like a chess game, it's easy enough to just consider all possible moves and then choose the best one. But, in real life you have to be more selective, because there are essentially an infinite number of "moves" you can make, and 99.9% of them won't get you an closer to the moon.

It seems unbelievable to me that classes are almost done for the semester. This is my last week, then just one make-up class on monday, and finals start a week from friday. Time seems to be speeding up, and there's not much I can do about it.

In the more immediate future... crazy oral arguments!! Somehow I got stuck with arguably the hardest position of the 4 possible for this one. I owe any and all preparation for this assignment to Jess, who is somehow motivated enough to make both of us work, even though we have to argue opposite sides of the same issue. I have to talk for 7 minutes about something that should only take about 2 minutes, so hopefully they'll ask me lots of questions, and I'll be able to talk s l o w l y.
