This entry is going to be exactly what it says it is. Because I feel like doing a meme. Who knows when I'll actually get to all the days, but WHATEVER.
1 - How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?
The Mentalist. Really, really the Mentalist. I've been reading fic for well over a decade. (Since I was 12/13, started in The West Wing fandom, which is an interesting first fandom, especially as a lurker). Anyway, I've been reading fic forever and okay, I admit it, I may have really old (REALLY terrible) CJ/Danny fic in a notebook somewhere that I'm sure my thirteen year old self though was incredibly good. I've also probably been unwittingly writing fic in my head for even longer than that, but I never had any real desire to post anything until midway through S1 of the Mentalist. Red John's Friends. And just, supportive!awesome!Lisbon. And how she is the only one who even stands a chance of comforting/getting through to Jane. And just, the tragedy of my poor broken pair, and I started to be intrigued by the possibility of redemption!arc for them.
Not to mention I was in grad school working on a thesis project that wasn't going at all well and I needed a distraction. Fandom provided a convenient place where I seemed to fit, where I didn't feel like everything I did went somehow *wrong*. I fell in love with the community (okay, and the reviews provided a much-needed boost to my self-esteem). And I found that I liked the writing. After thinking for about ten years that I couldn't write, it was nice to realize that yeah, I kinda can.
Also, I love stories. I love books and TV and the theatre. Fandom just seemed like a natural off-shoot.
