what's up with all the italian bandwagoners all of a sudden? jeez.
everyone's italian all of a sudden.

Italy had the easiest road to the finals, (while france had to play against Spain, Brazil, and Portugal) and i'm sick of hearing people shouting out forza azzurri when they don't even know what it means.

and zidane's headbutt was justified. what an ill way to go out.
he should've stole the trophy and rouletted around the field too.

god damn look at this fool.

Lip-reader reveals what riled Zidane

Tuesday July 11, 2006

Guardian
An Italian lip-reader last night claimed to have deciphered the words Marco Materazzi said to Zinédine Zidane that provoked the French captain into butting him in the chest during Sunday's World Cup final, the great midfielder's final act before a red card ended his career in top-level football.

According to the BBC, Materazzi said, "I wish an ugly death to you and all your family," and then told Zidane to "go fuck yourself".

A Paris-based anti-racism group, SOS-Racism, earlier said that "several very well informed sources" had suggested Zidane was called a "dirty terrorist".

But though video evidence is being used to judge Materazzi, it was not used by match officials to condemn Zidane. Fifa yesterday released a statement insisting that "the fourth referee saw the incident with his own eyes and told the referee and the assistant directly through their headsets".

The controversy did not stop Zidane from winning the Golden Ball as the World Cup's best player, ahead of the final's other captain, Italy's Fabio Cannavaro. The Frenchman earned 2,012 points in a poll of journalists covering the event, with Cannavaro on 1,977 and the Italian midfielder Andrea Pirlo third with 715.

BBC Radio Five Live asked for help from a deaf lip reader, Jessica Rees, who read the words phonetically to an Italian translator.

She deciphered the insult as being "you're the son of a terrorist whore" - a translation also carried by many national newspapers in Britain on Tuesday.

The BBC's Ten O'Clock News also called in experts to study the television footage of the incident and determined the following:

Materazzi's first word to Zidane was "no" before he then told him to "calm down".

He then accused him of being a "liar" and wished "an ugly death to you and your family" on the day the Frenchman's mother had been taken to hospital ill. This was followed by "Go f*** yourself".

Zidane's agent, Alain Migliaccio, has hinted that Zidane will soon reveal exactly what was said by Materazzi.

and if you've seen the replays, you can see that zidane was trying to walk away from him... how could materazzi not deserve to get hit?

oh well, people will probably forget this incident in a month or two... i seriously doubt that this incident will tarnish zidane's reputation.

on a more positive side note, the world cup has really got me into soccer lol... watching Korean National team soccer games >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> NJ nets basketball
