laundry room memoirs... part 1

Apr 05, 2006 10:02

is there anything more fun then doing laundry... fuck i hope there is... but when i discovered yesterday i was out of clean clothes... it is my mission this morning to find out...

so my road trip is planned...

a few more e-mails to go out... trying to hook up here and there with freinds even if for a quick drink or something...

after my bank update yesterday... it looks like this will be my one escape from the `shawa for a little while...

but with any luck... i should be returning to some serious jam time and writting tunes for the greatest rock n rapin roll band to ever hit the world... next to motley cuz...really... how could you improve on that...

so yeah meeting with a drummer tonite... i'm pretty excited... we have made contact with 3...(as mentioned earlier)... this is the first time that i can ever think of that i'll actually be in on a choice for a drummer instead of going... `cool... you have a kit and your own drum sticks... let's play...' like seriously... that is why i've played with machines for the last 10 years... reliable and talented drummers have been impossible to find... and getting harder to find every day... but i'm sick of mechanical non feeling staight up and down shit... i want to groooooove man... lots of groooooooove... and attitude...

i really seriously almost regret playing live with sequenced drums thou... when we first started doing that 7 years ago... everyone told me...`you can't play with a drum machine live'... now... i don't think i've seen a new band that uses a live drummer in years...

just becuz RUN DMC said `a dj could be in the band'... doesn't mean everybody has to do it...

now to clarify... what i mean is... i know there are bands and some are even freinds of mine... (nanochrist as example)... that are musicians... and use the beats like we did.. as a tool... i remember a conversation with mike... and we were discussing how hard it would be for a live drummer to play their stuff... and i know other guys... (like herman and his band delica)... that write songs... and their music calls for beats... but they use live synths... so still... it's about music being made by musicians and song writters...

i'm talking about the bands that use their computer and some drag and drop software as a crutch for their lack of ability to write a song... and for thier live show... need to add projectors and whatever kind of shit they can throw together to try and impress the bored to tears crowd... `like if i somehow incorperate some a half naked girl in my show... it won't suck...' maybe it comes across as bitter... or cynical... but hey... if you believe in what you're doing... then my opinion wouldn't matter... would it???

so yeah.... one load in the dryer... and the second is in the washer... my fun of laundry is almost done... whooo hoooo

we're going to walk up to court ice... later... i hope this snow stops... cuz i don't like walking in the snow... then of to meet drummer candidate #2... which will be fun... i've met 3 female drummers in my life (played with one for a painfully long 6 months)... one other could not even make it throu an audition... then there was thrina (sp???) when we played in `deadstick'... and she was solid... and cool to chill with too... so here's hoping #4 is more like #3... don't get me wrong... there are a lot of good female drummers out there... samantha maloney... and the chick who plays with kid rock... and whats her name cindi something or other that plays/used to play with kravitz... and really... i could name a million guy drummers that aren't as good... and considering some times i don't even have the co-ordination to sing and play guitar... i respect anyone who can decently lay down a beat....

well... i guess that's enough laundry room memoirs for today...
