here's my shitty situation:

So I just got a new car last week... but this mess actually started over a year and a half ago. The original plan in march of '06 was for me to pick up a (relatively) cheap car with a manual transmission. Honestly, I would have been happy with pretty much anything. First of all, I drove a 93 Ford Escort (automatic) in burgundy at the time, the absolute classiest shit ever. Secondly, I seriously did not trust that heap to get me to work, school, or to keep me alive in a collision with anything larger than a Beetle... anyhow I was turning 18 and I knew I could swing a nicer car, since my mother had been thinking the same thing anyway. We went two blocks down the Aurora strip to Seaview Chevrolet. A salesman came trotting up to us, and get this... the car salesman's name was Kyu.

"No fucking shit."

was the first phrase that entered my head space, and unfortunately, it was also what fell out of my mouth. I kept thinking... what are the odds of this happening? Improbable? Highly improbable? Astronomically small? Impossible? Major pattern interrupt,  but luckily I didn't fall for his bullshit. I could tell he had bonus incentives for selling entry-level domestic GM garbage; he kept trying to seal the deal on a Chevy Aveo or Pontiac Vibe. What happened was I got very caught up in the moment and convinced myself that an expensive automatic vehicle would not be a bad idea, since my mother wanted a nice back-up car for her use should the Mercedes be out of commission. So we looked at a 2002 Acura 3.2TL. I mean at this point, we were batting 0 for 2 on things I was looking for just fifteen minutes before.. I had also hoped for a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive car, so I was really hittin 0 for 3. It was my first car though, so of course I loved it.

For about three months.

IAfter a year of trying to convince my mom to let me trade my 2002 acura TL in for a cheaper manual car, I ended up with an Audi. We kept the Acura and opted to get rid of our '04 malibu, which she purchased one day out of the blue without consulting me. We could have gotten a cheap manual car for me instead of the malibu for less than half the cost. My mom's fiancee, Jared, could have been driving the Acura this whole time. Instead, we went through a lot of bullshit and lost a good deal of money with trades. Shit, I mean the Audi was cheaper than the Acura, which is the first thing I was going for, but not by much. It was manual and had Audi's ubiquitous quattro system. With snowboard season coming, I appreciated that this car would be unstoppable in the pass. But once again, this is not the type of car I had set out to buy.. Yet another rash and irresponsible purchase, but one that I cannot bring myself to regret. I was going to pick up a 1992 galant vr-4, since it has all wheel drive, the same motor as the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution (If you don't know what a lancer evolution is, this entire entry is probably pointless for you to read), not to mention all-wheel steering, going for five grand in Puyallup. These are very rare... 2000 were made, and it was very much what I wanted. Not to say I don't prefer the audi, because its seriously one of the nicest cars I've ever driven.

I was able to finance this new car through my mother. suprisingly my complete shit credit history with her scraped by (yea I'm a piece of shit, but I'm working on it), and with a down payment, I'll be paying 200 dollars a month for three and a half years. What's great is the flexibility this allows, and nothing goes down on credit records. Also, no interest. At least point I can afford a hundred bucks per check, now that I make real money, to have a car that will run for another decade if I take care of it.

Which brings me to why this situation has kind of fucked me. There's a 90k mile service that I need to get done soon which will cost me a cool 2 grand at least. Shitty, shitty, shitty. I asked for a full service for christmas, but I certainly didn't know it would run this much. The last thing I wanted was for my mom to drop this much out of pocket after ponying up for the car. That's Audi for ya, a proper kick in the balls when it comes to maintenance.

(yes, she's handsome, and will be sitting an inch lower on 18' oettinger RE rims)

Now recently, someone, let's call him Deus X, made me an offer on the car. Deus offered me a thousand dollars over what we paid for it. Now this would cover all the taxes and fees we had to pay, which would mean I got to drive the car for a month while making a slight profit.

So I would sell her, even though I love her to death because: 1) the 90k service will probably end up costing a good month's pay, and I have other things to buy with that money C) I have a potential buyer who wants to buy the car for 1000 more than I picked it up for. . and last but not least... I have a number of different, and much cheaper options lined up already if this sale goes through.

After much reflection, I still don't regret the purchase (thank god). Its a 2000 Audi A6 with a 2.7 twin turbo motor going through a six speed manual quattro transmission - fucking awesome. Every time I drive it, I can't help but grin once the turbos spool up. and we got a good deal on it. Word from my friend is that he could do this service for much cheaper than an Audi dealer shop. I really would love to keep it, but I would also be very satisfied with the afroementioned Galant VR-4. Either way, I'm gonna have regrets. Shitty situation.
