Otakon report of sorts

It turns out the drive wasn't as bad as I thought it would turn out to be, just long and tedious since it was all highway travel. Getting down there wasn't too bad with only a couple of delays due to construction and once due to an accident. However when it's really hot and humid, sitting in a Black car with no air-conditioning for ay least 45 minutes because of a slight traffic jam isn't fun. All said and done, I made it there without getting lost.

Friday: It seems security isn't too great at the Wyndham, seeing that I was supposed to give them the last 4 digits of Nate's credit card number to get a key for the room. I gave them my name and Nate's name; that was enough for them to give me a key. Unfortunately since I arrived so late it took some time before I met up with anyone. However, after getting my badge and then something to eat I went back to the room and found Ooklah there. I mainly tagged along with the group for the rest of the night. Most of the AMV's were pretty good. I especially liked "German 101" and "AMV Hell" of the Humorous/Satirical section.

Saturday: Seeing that I started out with some of the group this time, I only ended up alone once. That happened to be my main trip into the dealer's room in which I purchased the "Excel Saga" box-set. I happened to run into Phy's group, because I saw Nate. After Opt joined us when the pie sign was spotted, we went for lunch. Most of the day was spent hanging around. We ended up watching the AMV's again, but saw only from the middle of the action category AMV's onwards. Later we saw the fan-parody's which were hilarious. The theme music for Gendou was priceless. The Sierra Mist commercial in the last parody was quite funny too.

Sunday: Not much to say other than the tolls in Pennsylvania had all gone up. The tolls on I-476 went from $0.35 to $0.50 and the area of the highway where I needed a ticket went from $3 to $5. There was also that extra $5 dollars I ended up paying on the way back in which I don't remember having to pay on the way down.

I have to say that I'm glad that I went. It was cool meeting so many of my fellow forumites and chatters. Hopefully I'll go next year and maybe I should cosplay as Hideki...
