I think I'm past my initial upset over Cory Aquino's death. Part of me feels silly about being so affected by her passing, but she was part of my childhood as well as of Philippine history. Also, as a fellow former public servant, I knew what a thankless job she had and am grateful to her for doing her best.
I was hoping there would be a video somewhere of her singing "I'll never run again" to the tune of
"I'll Never Smile Again (at least I think that was the basis of her song) towards the end of her term in 1992, but it looks like nobody kept or has uploaded it yet. Too bad, it was really funny :) Guess I'll settle for
1987 speech before US Congress, which I'd only ever seen pictures of until now.
In other positive news, I cannot get enough of 311's
Uplifter. It's lighter on the reggae than the past couple of albums (not that I didn't like those either). "India Ink," "Daisy Cutter" and "Jackpot" stand out in particular for me. :)
Back now to Cory's speech, and maybe watching basketball, and getting some long-overdue R&R.
