Still Alive
I am happy to report that I don't need to do any serious thinking for the next few weeks :-p Our extra-curricular "Emerging Industries Analysis" presentation finally went down last Wednesday. I slipped up once despite days of practicing the presentation, but all in all the professor who supervised our work was very pleased, and I feel that I've learned a lot - about making presentations, at least.
Also, this week I had dinner with friends from the International Business Women club at school. It was a lot of fun, especially the pink wine, girl talk and the very long round of The Neverending Movie Game :D A couple of days later, I watched Star Trek with a couple of them. (The second years are graduating tomorrow, so people have more or less been saying goodbye to each other over the past couple of weeks.)
The movie was great! At first, Leonard Nimoy's role as the Big Spoiler Machine kind of niggled at me, but as a member of another very canon-sensitive fandom, I recognize his role in making the new movie as AU and thus more acceptable to diehard fans of the original series. This certainly made the new movie way more acceptable than a straight "re-imagining" would have been!
hex316 in particular absolutely loved the movie. Now he wants to star in some Star Trek-type thing, with bear_brand in the straight man Spock role. But he also wants to be a cowboy wizard guiding a prissy librarian (guess who?) through the mountains in search of some ancient Native American artifacts, and a college student working at Best Buy who suddenly becomes Chuck. I wish I could write this all out, but there's too much going on idea-wise that I don't know where to begin!
In other news, I have found someone to take my room for the summer, but am still attending to the paperwork for my internship, and my on-campus job next year. I think I need to leave Waltham by May 30th because my subletter needs to move in before the start of June, and I honestly don't want to be traveling on my birthday! (Oh, man, my birthday...) I hope everything is in order by the time I leave. That's really all I'm working towards right now :-/
