Lost a whole evening last night. Got vertigo on the shuttle ride home and was too sick to do anything but shower and go to bed. I slept for ten hours, which is good because I've been short on sleep these past couple of days. (It's all my new library books' fault.) I'm feeling better now, although still kind of blah.

We spent some time talking about current events in Accounting (!) yesterday. While talking about the elections, one of my American classmates got choked up and I thought it was sweet. I know there are a multitude of conflicting opinions in this country (as there are anywhere), but it's nice to see people with so much hope for their country.

I don't doubt that there are still Filipinos out there who love our country (I certainly do), but feeling hopeful is another thing altogether. I myself feel like I lost that hopefulness during my years in government service, and I sure have not become choked up over the Philippines in a long time, if at all :( Anyway, all I guess I'm really trying to say is I wish that recent developments will truly lead to positive change in America, and elsewhere in the world. We certainly need some of that in the Philippines, and I have no idea how to get the people there to move and make it happen.

In other news, I have booked my bus ticket to Rochester for Thanksgiving. I will be missing a day of school so that I can be in Rochester on the day itself (instead of leaving Wednesday afternoon and traveling overnight to arrive early Thursday morning, or traveling on Thursday). I'm trying not to feel guilty about that because I won't be the only one at school who'll be out of town by then, plus I totally HATE traveling at night. My dad likes it because there's no traffic, but I find it stressful. Anyway, according to my itinerary, I will be spending a whopping 35 minutes in Springfield, MA :-p

So, this is going to be a pretty busy month although this week has been a relatively light one so far. Besides all the schoolwork (which I should be doing right now, heh), there is a lot of social stuff going on and I hope I can take advantage of it all!

Tomorrow - monthly grad student mixer, monthly movie night and a party that seems to be all second-years (but I was invited and I guess I'll go).

Saturday - meeting a cousin in Cambridge for tea/drinks (we haven't decided yet), and another party. (Yes, I have to look fabulous two days in a row!)

Monday-Wednesday - Going to see if I can catch my friend from grade school while she's in Boston.

Next weekend - Cape Cod!

The weekend after that - Cousin Katgirl in Boston!

The weekend after that - Thanksgiving!

Guess I'll try to get cracking on my schoolwork now!
