Yanks not willing to deal young pitchers - this is one of the best things I've heard out of the team ever since the post-season meltdown.
I hate to disappoint the non-Yankee fans on my F-list, but I haven't totally abandoned the Yanks yet :-p I think I'm more into Ateneo basketball overall, so the fact that La Salle won the UAAP men's basketball title sticks in my craw more than the Red Sox' World Series title, but I still more or less follow baseball and caught Yankee games on ESPN when I could. I was disappointed that the Yankees didn't get far in the post-season, but what I hated most about this whole thing is how the whole team seems to have been scuttled. I don't know if team management really swung that axe around this year or I'm just alarmed at how the status of so many people (not just Torre but also the big-ticket free agents, potential retirees, etc.) became so uncertain at the same time; it all just left me feeling blah about the way management has handled things. Anyway, I can't really do anything about this other than wait and see what happens and root for whoever appears in that dugout.
Other bright spots for the Yankees - I really like how Derek Jeter's always held up as an exemplary Yankee because he's wanted to be one all his life, and I also recently read an article quoting Chien-Ming Wang as saying that he wants to be a Yankee for life, too. Yay. It's good to hear that kind of thing during these trying times.
Also, I see Paul McCartney is squiring someone else around these days. Interesting. I hope it works out - he had good luck with the last well-off American with whom he hooked up :)
I caught only a bit of Heather's tirade/s over the long weekend, so I don't know what it's all about but honestly, I don't know if railing on global TV about all her issues was a very good move for her side. Anyone have any thoughts?
Lunchtime. Yay. Must eat now.
