Better than good...

Christmas was awe-inspiringly great.   The puddle, the hubby and my mom loved all their gifts, and we had a surprisingly yummy gluten-free dinner (my mom was just diagnosed with Celiac disease and, since it's genetic, I'm now waiting on my test results).

I got to chat with the family that's out of town and spent an hour talking to my best girlfriend who lives in Atlanta these days.  She's recovering nicely from serious complications following her baby girl's birth.  Crohn's and childbirth seem to have mixed results.

We even had time to watch Elf and Scrooged, which still makes me squee more than any other Christmas movie.  I hadn't seen it in a while, so the whole family got a giggle when I recognized John Glover - there might have been an actual squeal.  :P

I surprised the hubby with a weekend in Flagstaff so he could use the season pass to the local ski hill I got him for Christmas.  Puddle and I are meeting him up there this afternoon.

I have a lot to be grateful for this year, despite all the challenges, and the holiday helped me re-frame a lot.  In the last month alone, I survived a department reorg and a company-wide RIF.  Regardless of the issues I have with my boss, I have a job and I can manage the quirks for now.  I'm involved in some pretty cool projects and I even have a new prospect forming on the horizon.  Add to that an amazing hubby and a sweet-as-pie 5-year-old, good friends, the love of the family members who matter, and a holiday season without any additional credit card debt, and life is pretty damned wonderful.

I hope you all had a great holiday, too!  Have a good weekend!

rl, christmas
