My argument was that according to the rules, the hand counts and part of the ball when holding the ball. According to Official 2003 NCAA Men's Basketball rules the hand is not considered a foul; that is all my argument was, and I think that from the above it is clear that my argument stands.

Furthermore, anecdotal evidence of games you may have happened to see is not sufficient to discount the fact that what I said is an official part of NCAA rules. I fail to have as crystal clear a memory of every play of every game I have ever watched as you seem to do about the games you have seen. Therefore, I don't feel confident spouting off that I have seen several times where making contact with the hand wasn't called as a foul. But I feel confident saying that I'm sure that there are more than enough cases out there to prove my point, and seeing as I have given a direct quote of the rules, they are quite unnecessary to prove my original argument that according to the RULES the hand counts as part of the ball. Neither of us are official referees, and until we are certified to be referees I don't feel that either of us should pretend that we are. Luckily, to look up a rule one need not be a referee.
