Earthshakes in San Jose, CA

Wow. 5.6 Last night at 8:04pm PST. The chandeliers were swinging pretty hard, the house really shook, but I didn't panic. I just ran for cover and called Mom right away. Glad I responded quickly as I was able to get through to her. I stayed on the phone with her a good long spell. Both she and I were both home alone. Howard's in Yokohama, Japan, Alicia now lives in NYC, and Missy's up at Cal.

The epicenter was Alum Rock Park, on the Calaveras Fault line. That's about 3 miles dead center of our house. So we felt it the strongest.

No damages. Water and gas lines are fine. I'm fine. A few stuffed animals fell off their shelves in the girls' rooms. My Mother screamed and broke the dish she was washing.

Howard called so worried. Helpless as he's in Japan and here I am at home alone at night, with a cast on my right leg (healing from ankle surgery).

For my LJ friends who might have heard, I am fine. Minor impact to the Santa Clara County. Mostly frayed nerves.

Love, e
