early out.

My boss came around the lab today, at about ten past four, and tried to send various of us "home early for good behaviour". As it was I still had a lot of work to do, so I didn't get away till about quarter to five, but earlier nevertheless. Actually, i had so much going on that I could have stayed till six or half past....but we'll just leave all that till Monday. Actually, I might go in early on Monday, try and nail it.

Walking home I got to see the working interiors of lots of shops that are usually closed by the time I stride past them. Unfortunately I'd left my purse at home this morning and so I couldn't actually take advantage of any of them!

Leaving my purse at home meant I had to borrow £1.50 from someone at work for 'my' Euromillions ticket....the lab made a decision to go in for it seeing as it's this non-rolling-over roll-over, so we've bought a line each and will all abandon the NHS forever next week when we enjoy our 15th share of £88million. Presumably if we do win something I ought to give my debtor 1.5% of my winnings. As I was walking home this evening I passed someone explaining the need for a ticket to someone on their mobile- "it's 88million, and it's not going to rollover again, so if there's no winner it'll just go to the next people"....clearly the nation is gripped by some sort of lotto fever. Or not.

In other news I am totally exhausted. This is partly the new job, partly the new flat (having to run a household!) and partly the new lifestyle. I honestly hadn't ever quite comprehended how often 'city folks' arrange meet ups and drinks and so on. Also we are now doing BSL on a Tuesday night, which is in itself pretty tiring.

Off to make a start on tonight's tea, seeing as brokenhut will only just be leaving work now.
