My precious little green house on Terwilliger is going to be a grand time. Back in Bellingham after a move-in and some quality time with a few of my favorite people in the universe and I am perpetually addicted to and enamored with my silly hippie town that is caught in the mountains between all of the traffic and city life of Seattle and Vancouver. It is gorgeous here all the time, but particularly in the summer and I love it.
Now is the time to decide whether I'm going to get a graduate degree in something somewhat useful that may lead to a "real job" or whether I'm going to get a doctorate in something relatively useless that will make me into an extremely well-educated biology bum for the remainder of my life. I'm leaning toward the latter.
And regarding the LC Bubble: it is going to be far nicer to make the jump from the third world to off campus living than it was to jump back into the apartments and being on campus constantly. Granted I haven't spent much time on the hill or in Portland since getting back, but I feel hundreds of times more prepared to rationalize my life there this time around than I did in January. And rather than feeling overwhelmed, this time around I feel like I've gained a huge amount of energy, inspiration and motivation in Tanzania. I am incredibly excited to get to class, to do some research, to plan a bad ass trip to South America, and to figure out what the hell I am doing with my life after June 2007.
With that said, ready, set, go!
