This picture pretty much sums up the weekend; derpy-derp cosplay, 105 degree sunshine, and harbor-side crowds of normals. Definitely not the most comfortable weekend I've spent in Baltimore, but I thoroughly enjoyed derping around in our Death Note (and Desu Noto) costumes.
Disappointingly, I felt like I could never catch up to everything, and missed out on a lot. There was a lot of overlap in programming (i.e. G00 movie during the sixh show, argggggg), and it just takes so long to get anywhere at Otakon. And the LINES... omg. At least I got to see a little of G00 in the big HD theatre, and Madoka Magica. The sixh show was really cool (especially since
kittymaru was in it!) but I'm a little bummed I missed the AatP/BABY show. And their autograph session. At the Bandai and Sunrise panels we got lots of free stuff (including a panel-crashing Johnny Yong Bosch!!!), but I missed Psycho Gothic Lolita. I also missed Badlands Rumble, but at least for the movies we have a BluRay player and access to a big screen tv. Peter S. Beagle's panel was pretty awesome as he had a lot of inspiring things to say, and I'm really glad I got to sit in on it.
The best part really was the cosplay. :)
My only trip into the dealer's room lasted about twenty minutes and I bought:
That's right, I went to OTAKON and bought frakkin BSG merchandise. I'm a going to be a total scifi nerd and cosplay BSG next year, so I figured why not pick up the Captain's rank insignia when I turned around and saw it on the table. Score! The patch is totally going on a bag of some sort. Ultimate nerdery.
Now? We're gearing up for AWA. Cosplay will most likely be Steampunkshitsuji, and possibly Org XIII Lazy XIII. Of course, I want to to Desu Noto, and if it weren't so frakkin hot I'd wear my Yoite costume as Brina Palencia will be a guest this year. Yay! Gay Ninjas!
Omg, I so have other things to be doing, namely working on things to SELL at awa.
