SCAD is designed to kill.
I don't know how many people know, but my classes run for 2.5 hours a day, two times a week. That's five class hours per class, and my course load is three classes. There are four periods in SCAD's day: 9am, 12noon, 3pm and 6pm. This system is good. This system works and is quite pleasant to deal with. Despite my many complaints about SCAD this was never one of them.
THAT IS NO LONGER THE CASE!!!
Starting fall quarter SCAD's adding a fifth period to the day. Classes will be scheduled 8AM, 11am, 2pm, 5pm and 8pm. That means the poor kids and professors stuck with 8pm classes won't get out until 10:30. As it is now, some of the buildings aren't even open past 9pm.
This really pisses me off. The school even fucked up their website and let the new schedule show to students before they intended to release the news, so they had to send an email to everyone to explain. They stated this new schedule wouldn't change what the school is about, and in a way that's true - SCAD is a money-grubbing institution and this only opens more seats for more students to line the pockets of she who shall not be named. At the same time though, it's throwing off the balance of the school. I'm already upset about it and I'm not even on that schedule yet.
And I thought this quarter was off to such a great start. -_-;;
