Like the silliness of the start - a nice way of having some more comedy in an otherwise fairly serious and dark episode - the bit with the dress, Laurel & Hardy, “She’s (River) doing it again - packing”, “howdy”, “Hello Sweetie”.
Hmm, why does Amy see the figure and no one else?
BLOODY Hell! The death scene and LOVE River’s reaction of EMPTYING the gun even when she knows it won’t work.
“That is the Doctor and he is most certainty dead” - how does Canton know this and is it the truth?
Love the fact that Rory has the idea for the Viking Burial - despite the fact it makes little sense!
“That’s cold, even for you” - love the scene in the Cafe. Yay for Rory being the one to spot the envelope!
Love the confrontation in the TARDIS - “Fish and custard” Snerk!
Also “I’m being brilliant up here and there’s no one being impressed. What good are you if you’re not impressed” Such a Doctor Line.
Invisible and silent TARDIS - is it also Deadly? :) - Makes sense such a feature would be invented in a Time War so I’m not annoyed about the “new” ability.
“River, make her Blue again” - LOVED the entire Oval Office scene.
Meh to the confrontation in the bathroom. There had better be a reason why only Amy sees the Silent in the Oval office and the guard directly behind doesn’t , while Joy sees it as well in the bathroom? Also Amy being allowed into the bathroom without an agent - a female one would have asked to accompany a suspect in such cases. Finally Amy’s phone. Again whether or not the agent believes it’s a phone or not, it would have been confiscated as a possible dangerous device - after all phones can trigger bombs. Too much lack of believable actions for sake of plot.
Like Canton’s reaction to the TARDIS and rory’s reassuring hand. Liked the Doctor’s deduction. Like River’s playfulness - “I’m a Screamer” and chemistry with the Doctor “She’s just a friend” Snerk!
LOVED the reuse of the Lodger’s ship. Wondering if the door was locked by the Silent or by the ship TO KEEP THE SILENT OUT...
Meh to the cliffhanger and promo - if the latter hadn’t featured the little girl’s voice again, the ending might have worked. Lame.
Overall -although this is dependent on the questions raised in part one being satisfactory answered, rating is 8 out of 10 rising perhaps to 9.
SPECULATION - The “future” Doctor says that he been running. Is he telling the truth when he implies that he been running AWAY from something or as he been running after the Silent and trying to stop them but he can’t either because they were too far ahead of them by the time he found them originally or because they keep choosing the circumstances of their encounters.
So it is possible that in order to draw them out to a place of his choosing, he dangles a nice, juicy bait in front of them - the prospect of a paradox “that could blow a hole in the universe” Given their actions with the TARDIS, it would seem to be what they want/need.
Or is it just an attempt to alert his younger self in a way that doesn’t risk the universe, to their existence at a time where his earlier can do something about it."
