i know many people consider country music in high esteem. its great to listen to on road trips...but what if you put it this way...
what if your life was like a certain genre of music?
like rap. keep in mind that this is the first time that i am ever defending rap. i dont even like rap that much, but it works here. always has a good, distinctive beat to lead your life with. funny "rhymes" that you can either make fun of or dance to. a few scratches with the discs, but always a good time. tons of different instruments to get the sound you want.
or classic rock. a good go-with-the-flow type of life. fifteen seconds of fame when you bust in the room with a guitar solo. and a great hook to tie things all up together. different melodies for different folks. always fun to sing along to with your friends, family, anyone... and a little head banging never hurt anyone.
but, country music? it just seems so bland. i love listening to it once in a while, but it just sounds like the same thing for everyone. mostly just guitar. same accent in voices. and when i hear the country lovers rocking out to the chorus, it all just sounds the same. sometimes very similar to rap with being the same, except they sing about the same things all the time. you can rap about anything... or you can at least attempt to. and unless if you really love doing the electric slide, you can't really dance to it. and my life involves a lot of dancing.
i guess if you listen to too much of anything, you'll get tired of it. but it just seems to happen sooner with country. you can only listen to so many shania twain songs before you say "that don't impress me much".
